The verses below were taken from the New Matthew Bible, not for any reason other than I really love this version. Its a very careful and gentle update of William Tyndales New Testament from 1526

Use any translation you like.

Spoken to his Disciples
Matthew 16:28 Truly I say to you, some there are among them that stand here who shall not taste of death till they have seen the Son of man come in his kingdom.

Spoken before the Sanhedrin
Matthew 26:64 Jesus said to him, It is as you have said. But I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and come in the clouds of the sky.

A warning to the Philadelphians
Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come shortly. Hold that which you have, so that no one may take away your crown.

Paul referencing Deuteronomy
2 Corinthians 13:1
Now I am coming the third time to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall everything be established.

Above we have three passages spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ concerning His imminent return.

Let's examine these passages together in good faith. What was Christ saying? To whom was He saying it? And what impact, if any, should these words have upon our present day understanding of biblical eschatology?

In Matthew 16:28 Jesus is telling the disciples of his imminent transfiguration on the mount 6 days later when the kingdom of God came to earth in power

In Matthew 26:24 Jesus is telling the Sanhedrin that he is the fulfillment of Daniel 7:13-14. A more detailed description of this is in Revelation 5 when the son of man received the kingdom and glory

I'm curious as to why you had no comment concerning the third verse I quoted here. Could it be because it directly contradicts your interpretations of verses one and two?

The 3rd verse has nothing to do with the second coming? It is talking about Jesus coming in judgment against the churches. He says the same thing to many churches, for example:

Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Nothing about the second coming, Jesus did come and remove those candlesticks for those churches no longer exist.

The 4th verse also has nothing to do with the 2nd coming because it is Paul talking about coming to the Corinthians.

@ChristRoseFromTheDead nailed it in their response.

Because I am very familiar with when the first two verses were fulfilled, but have never thought about the 3rd verse in that context, so I would have to spend time thinking about it, and it was late and I didn't feel like doing that.

In Revelation 3:11 Jesus is addressing the Philadelphians, but IMO it is a message to all believers to guard his works at all times (ie, not do the works of the flesh) because no one knows when will be their last moment. In a sense, every believer experiences the lord's return within their lifetime because all die and the next thing they know is the resurrection and lord's return
