I am so blessed by the mercy of God today. I have been leading worship now for 10 years. I have been called to worship ministry and have a gift for ministry in general. I live and breathe worship and music. It makes me feel alive. I find the Lord through it in a more profound way than any other activity. I know that worship leading is a huge call on my life. But... I did something really stupid, bad, horrendous, etc a few days ago. I knew when the mistake was made that I had to confess it. I spoke with my worship pastor bright and early the following morning. I then texted my head pastor, but wasn't able to see him until the following day when he picked me up for church. I also told a few woman friends, but I was so humilated and terrified of what would happen. My friend got herself in a similar tangle though admittedly much worse, and she was removed from the worship team for over a year. She grew a lot, but she had to endure a lot of people's gossip and confrontations. I was really dreading what my consequences would be. On Sunday we were singing a song asking God for His mercy, and at that point I didn't even want God's mercy because I felt so much shame. But over the next few days, I found myself tearfully begging for His mercy. A year off the team would kill me. 6 months was as short as I thought and was advized that they would go.
I woke up this morning and began cutting and scratching myself, but I stopped. I met with the pastors and the meeting went well. After much conversation we discussed my consequences. I will be off the team for 2 months, and I still get to sing for Christmas. That was more mercy than I ever expected!

just remember that even if you are to go unforgiven by other people, GOD is still there and ready to forgive as soon as HE is asked for it sincerely, not matter how many times you have committed the same mistake, it's NEVER too late--GOD Bless

I just read your post, and was highly disturbed by what you wrote, I am not sure what you mean by mistakes,or what got you disciplined from the music ministry at your church.

What I am going to tell you isn't very popular in the mainstream churches today, but the truth never the less!

First off the mercy of God as you said is patient, and long suffering.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering toward us, not purposing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Rom 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, and the forbearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

I am very thankful for the great mercy of God, as we all should be, but today His great mercy is so taken advantaged of due to the false teaching that say you can continue in unrepentant sin, and still remain saved!

I would urge you to get your priorities in order, stop worrying about the music ministry, and make sure you and your family and Church friends have a saving faith, that can only come from repentance, where the sin stops, the heart is made pure before God will grant pardon to you.

If you think you can sin and I mean sins of the flesh, such as fornication, adultery, idolatry, drunkenness, etc,, and still remain under the mercy of God, then you are sadly mistaken,God is not mocked, you reap what you sew, and we all make mistakes, many poor judgement, decisions, worries and fear at times, BUT willful, rebellious sin against God leads to death!

If you think you can say, fornicate then apologize to God, go out and get drunk then apologize to God, lie, cheat and steal etc, then think the mercy of God covers it all, then you are in a strong delusion.

Again, I do not know your circumstances, but can see you need to repent, stop sinning against God,and seek His great mercy,His mercy comes with a price,His grace comes with a price, which Titus 2-11-12, explain well.

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
Tit 2:12 teaching us that having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live discreetly, righteously and godly, in this present world,

IF you continue in active rebellion against God,by committing sin against Him, you are using His grace in Vain.

Jesus came to set us free from the corrupting influence of sin,he is the lamb of God, who came to take away the sins of the world! Not save us in them, then hope the mercy of God will look the other way!

And remember His mercy is waiting for you to repent, and get serious about Him,and stand aloof of your church IF it teaches the saved IN sin ,Billy Graham, sinners prayer to salvation.

Jesus is calling His creation to repent, stop sinning, and follow and obey Him on the narrow road, not confess and believe in something that never happened.

Rev 2:5 Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and will remove your lamp stand out of its place unless you repent.

Tommy, you are very right. You do not know me. While I agree with most of what you said wholeheartedly, my heart is cleased by the blood of the lamb. I am fully repentant. While it may be a process to learn to walk a different way, there is no part of me that wishes to take the Lords mercy for granted. I am not continuing in my sin. I have confessed it to my leaders and a few good women friends. In fact, this sin was not a continuous lifestyle of sin. It was a momentary slip and I confessed it the very next day because I knew I needed to honor the leadership and calling God has on my life. I have followed every request and suggestion from my pastors and have already spoken to an older friend who will be discipline me. It is my deepest desire to honor God as His child, but also as one called to ministry.
My sin was no worse or better than any if your sins, Tommy. And honestly, the only part of your response that I take even the slightest offense to is when you say that you are so sure that I am unrepentant. You are wrong. You do not know my heart, but God does. I would be wary of passing such a judgement at all, but especially when the only information you have is a vague paragraph. I love The Lord and wish to honor him with all that is in me, but I screwed up and I deserved a lot worse than I got. I am saved. I am forgiven. And I will continue to live my life to honor Him. Even in this, The Lord can be honored. And I intend to do so.
So Tommy, be careful with your judgements especially when you have so little information.

The belief you have to be perfect before God forgives you is wrong.
If this were the case, none would be saved.
The continuing bothersome thread that I see is some people's insistence that they
are co-redeemers. I can think of no more proud thing to believe.
God's grace stops you from sinning. For His kindness leads us to repentance.
And it's His great Grace and Love that keeps us there through a living relationship.
If we fall, that's what His rod is for. - "For thy rod(correction) and thy staff(direction) comforts me."
Such extra discipline also bothers me.........you said you were sorry, you repented.......why the extra discipline?
Who are you living for? Jesus or your pastors? - B.T.W.; was the worship pastor disciplined for his ignorant and ill-advised
confession to you ;- that he was physically attracted to you?

I do not know exactly what happened to him. I'm sure he had a stern conversation with the senior pastor and I know boundaries were set in stone for now. But I do not know exactly what was prescribed beyond some boundaries.
The discipline is a time of healing and finding stability. I believe it's a good thing. I believe God will bring about something great through it.
