Alrighty then.....
My latest addition... I have wanted a .357 DA revolver for some time now.. I've been thinking of getting a 1911 lightweight commander to use as a carry gun, but instead, decided to get the .357
I do not plan to carry it for self defense, as it's too heavy for that role, but this will be more of a range gun, and a backup gun to carry if and when I go hunting again.. it would also make a very good TEOTWAWKI kind of thing, if one is worried about that scenario... the .357 will just do nearly anything needing to be done, handgun wise....

So..... enter the Ruger GP100.... SS, 4" barrel, fiber optic front sight, yada, yada..... :)

plans are to test it out in the next day or so...

Man you really have good taste!
3.2 grains of W231 is a great 38 special load I have had success with.
A friend carried a S&W model 19 in Vietnam as a backup, he doesn't elaborate and I don't push, he just says, " the 357 is a very capable round".
Congratulations!

Interesting... all of my autos are striker fired... I really like the CZ75 platform, and it wouldn't cause me major heartburn to carry a da/sa hammer fired...
The price is certainly attractive. It appears to weigh about 6 or 7 oz more than my Shield Plus...
Nice looking handgun, for sure.

Got to shoot the GP100... I think it will likely be a keeper. It has very tight chambers, though... I'll have to up my QC on my reloads...

This was resting my hand on the little counter at the indoor range.... 10 yards. Need more practice...

this was standing on my hind legs "like a man" at 7 yards....

Update... I got to shoot more of my handloads with the GP.... I was shooting at 15yds this time, standing. It was grouping high left, so I was adjusting the sights as I went. This was my last two cylinders out of it. The circled group was my last for the day... I can live with this....

Plus, I've been thinking of moving up to the .45 acp for edc... I really like my S&W Shield Plus in 9mm, so I thought I should try it in the .45 caliber... I found this new one at the gun show in Mesquite... I traded one of my other 9mm's for it. I shot it yesterday, and I think I'm going to really like it. It holds 7 in the mag, and is really not difficult to control at all. The target is my first 5 rounds out of the gun at 7 yards standing.

It's not as bad as you would think...a little harder to shoot fast, but deliberate shooting isn't bad at all.
The experience I've had shooting friends 45s were positive. Granted they were service and Commander length.
The 45 Supers loaded max were surprisingly controllable too. I really like the slower burning recoil impulse of that caliber.
