We as humans often don't want things to hit too close to home.

We don't want to be rebuked, we don't want to change, we don't want to do the hard things.

We want to pick and choose from the Bible and we want to mock those that aren't "accommodating" or "flexible."

We want to put down those that require more of ourselves and ignore those that make us aware of our sins.

We want to love when it's easy, we want to be Godly when it doesn't interfere with our worldly ways.

Luke 17:3 - If your brother sins, rebuke him

Ephesians 5:11 - Do not have fellowship with sin, but reprove it

2 Timothy 2:24-26 - The Lord's servant must correct those who have been taken captive by the Devil.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 - Preaching the word requires us to "reprove and rebuke" - this means to tell people when they are wrong.

Titus 1:9-14 - Elders must sharply reprove people who teach things they ought not.

James 5:19,20 - We should seek to convert those who go into sin and error.

Proverbs 28:4 - Those who keep the law, will contend with the wicked.

James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

We're all guilty of these things, and we all need to be aware of it.

This verse really gets me and is something I think we should keep in mind at all times especially when we fear hurting someone by rebuking their sin...

I value the rebuke of a friend rather than flattery from a 'fine weathered' one..............at the time it feels awful though.............

Thank you Grace, I hit home for me so I thought I'd post it.

I agree Missy, a friend that loves enough to risk hurting your feeling for your greater good...it doesn't get much better than that :)

It's not easy to avoid sins and be a perfect being but there's a way to be exempted from sins and that is to admit all the sins you've done then apologize to him with all your heart then finally make a promise that you'll learn from it and should never do it again (which is a hard thing to do) with that i'm sure our merciful GOD will forgive you.

And when they do not hear, the hard thing is to withdraw. May the Lord help me to do this.

Psalm 1: 1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

John 14: 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2 Timothy 4:15Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words. 16At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. 17Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

2 Corinthians 11: 1Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

2 Thessalonians 3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;.....14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

John 10: 1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Luke 13:24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 30And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

Matthew 10: 14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Amen, excellent point. We have to know when to stop and pray that God work in them.
