The missing word is absolutely nothing is missing ,as an eternal will in you means there's absolutely nothing you can do about it 
God works all things according to the council of his will, Ephesians 1:11
The reason for this will is for God to set his glory higher than us.
When considering Gods will it may feel like nothing to you as there's nothing anyone can do about it, as if his will is willed in you, there's nothing you can do about it.

For the light has comes to world

The light is present and they see the light and the light overcomes the darkness in them, but they they turn away deliberately because there deeds are exposed.
The ones who do receive him are those who practice truth, and can be seen in the light of God and they receive the light.
The eternal word here means they where seen in the light
Which means the fathers mercy had worked in them.

Gods eternal will for you is the father wants for you to have belief for you, it highlights the plan for salvation, and again highlights the fathers mercy and the sons mercy being an eternal will from the beginning.
