Blood was spilt
Flesh was torn
Death clung to His sullen form
Waiting to claim it’s prey
Cries came from the watching crowd
Wails from the hearts of those He loved
He was born to pay this price
Here was shown the passion of the Christ
Savage blows, tore skin from His face
Poured on Him the world’s disgrace
Fallen humanity together scorned
The day this saint was ever born
With one last breath, the breath of Life
His face turned faithfully to His Father’s grace
He cried the life from out His bones
IT IS FINISHED, he cried, and made for us a home
Why would one so pure choose to die
For that which I had done in life?
For my iniquities, my disgrace, my shame
These lies I always used to blame
And why would He forsake Himself
For those who hate and abuse?
For me it’s summed up in a word
LOVE, for me, for you.
So now it’s your turn - to choose.
