Gnosticism was a second-century belief system that the early church fathers called heretical.
Gnostics believed that the world was divided into the physical and spiritual realms. The created, material world (matter) is evil, and therefore in opposition to the world of the spirit, and that only the spirit is good.
Essentially we as humanity are inherently good.
We see this thought system in our culture today. No longer the responsibility of self to be the greatest of importance. If we are not inherently evil, as the Bible teaches that humanity's heart leans towards wickedness, then we are left to blame everyone else instead. Blame your boss, your neighbor, job, economy, politics, blame the system. The material realm of things is the problem and not necessarily the soulish individual.
It takes responsibility out of one's actions. This is by no means to say there aren't problems in the systems, but we must first start with the heart of humanity.
Morals. The morals of God who is the only judge between good and evil. Without God, how do we define good? How do we define evil? Truth?
We hear the terms my truth, my morals, my beliefs, but where are these truths, morals, and beliefs grounded? In the mind? Or outside of the mind in reality. Is it subjective opinion or objective fact?
Every individual who has killed millions of innocent people also had views of good and evil.
We must be the change we wish to see in the world. It starts in us, then the home, community, city, state, and country.
If you see something, do something. Depending on others, the government, or the state to handle issues of the heart, is always a losing battle.
