The premise of an earthly Messianic kingdom is totally contrary to what is written in scripture.
I will give a few of the reasons why this is correct and that why the focus on the establishment of an earthly kingdom is false.
1) - the establishment of an earthly king was a rejection of God by Israel.
Israel wanted to be like the nations and have a king with armies and national power.
God told Samuel - "they have rejected me"
1 Sam 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me that I should not reign over them.
Therefore this desire to re-establish an earthly kingdom and a physical king on the throne is a rejection of God.
2) - when the Messiah came into his kingdom, the sovereignty/power of Judah would pass away.
Gen 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
The above states that the nationalistic phase of the kingdom of Israel would pass away and not restored, with the establishment of Christ's kingdom.
3) - the earthly kingdom of Israel was only a shadow of the better things to come (Hebrews 9-10).
Heb 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. - a shadow.
The earthly was a shadow of spiritual things and not a promise of other earthly things.
The idea that the earthly kingdom has been temporarily suspended only one day to be restored would mean that God has moved from the shadow to the reality and then will move back to the shadow again..
The book of Hebrews establishes beyond a doubt that the spiritual body of Christ which is his church are the better things foreshadowed by Israel and the Old Covenant.
So to remove the body (of Christ) which is the reality, is to return to the shadows and is a violation of this greatly ignored fact in the new testament.
4) - Paul says that God’s method of operation is to move from the natural to the spiritual:
1 Cor 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
1 Cor 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
5) - In contradiction to this the millennial view claims that God has temporarily set aside the shadow world of Israel - "the natural body" and established the spiritual body of Christ (his church), and that He will in the future, set aside the spiritual body, and return to the natural. This is a total denial of inspired words of Paul.
