F
There are two doors
one is black
the other is golden
Each has a peephole
Each calls to me
I walk to the dark door
and glance through the hole
I see
popularity
a multitude of friends
the perfect boyfriend
money- more than I could ever need
all within my grasp if
I just turn the handle
but I don't
"Tell me what you really hold"
I demand
The door hesitates
then shudders
When I look again
everything is still there
but now I see that
the friends
just want to use me
and the boyfriend
doesn't love me
I see a confused
scared
lost
teen
Depressed and friendless
So I tear myself from the door
"The gold door
must be better" I think
The peephole shows me
being teased by a tall blonde
me
sitting alone at lunch
me
walking down a less tha perfect street
crying
But when I tell the door
to show me everything
I see me
lost in worship and prayer
me
running into your open arms
with laughter and a wild smile
And I know
Which door
I will choose
So, just an explanation of the poem- it is basically saying that material things will leave us wasting away but even if our life seems horrible because we chose Christianity, God will be there for us Hope this lifts some spirits!
