Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, or did He?

....God is Almighty and is able to perform the destruction just as the scripture states and that by his will, his power and in his timing and that without the need of natural disasters.
Yes, I understand your point, but this has to do with the fact that "God is love". How can a God of love destroy? Sin is the enemy....Sin is the destroyer. Sin brings death.

God is the redeemer...He came not to condemn men, but that through Him men might be saved from the wages of sin, death.

For those who reject this then they will be abandoned. When God goes His protection goes with Him. What's left when God is gone?

Numbers 12:9 The anger of the Lord burned against them, and he left them. 10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous —it became as white as snow....

Nice Topic Roberth, Many do not get this which is sad because salvation is about having a relationship with God and knowing Him. Many do not get that Hell is our own making also.

Why is death the result of sin? Because God is life and if we reject life we only have one path left, death.

I have a saying which I am sure is not unique but it is this: "God does not threaten, He warns, He pleads, He reasons."

Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Well (as Reagan use to say), I guess we are at a dead end? That's the way I understand God's justice....

So, let's go to the next issue involving the love of God.

If God is love, why did He enter into the Old Covenant with Israel? Didn't He know Israel would fail? Yes! Then why?

My answer is simply: They didn't know!!!! He entered that covenant in order to place the pride & glory of men in the dust of the ground, so that they might be justified by faith alone.

So my next topic will be named: http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...t-death-all-congregation-shall-stone-him.html
