You can compare it to how the Body rids itself of toxins: blood that has been filled with breath is pumped by the heart, through the veins, into every part of the body. This blood "picks up" the toxins out of the body, then, the blood is washed by the kidneys, the toxins are urinated out; and the blood returns to the lungs to be filled with air again.
That is, unless there is a ''blockage'' that keeps the blood out! Then, you lose 'feeling' there, and if it happens long enough, it might be subject to getting 'cut off'.

- The blood in our own bodies "carries" the toxins away from our flesh!!
James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
That is, IF we are OPEN, IF we confess the Truth of what has been happening... to the Lord, and James says that even we should (if we are led) confess to one another in order that we might be HEALED.
IF we let the blood in, IF we let the Spirit (Spirit is in the Blood - and the Blood is in the Bride of Christ) in, IF we confess the TRUTH of "what we have in our houses", IT can take it AWAY... hallelujah!
