what would happen if more helpful threads were provided on the topics of... "fruits of the spirit". Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, "self control" , long suffering ? perhaps presentation to get people thinking and taking a look at constructive ways the Holy Spirit works in us? lessons maybe ... Post topics on things like something I learned in a class called the " REED process"
Recognize --what is happening
Express-- emotions to God
Evaluate-- what Jesus does
Decide-- choose how to respond

Another great learning tool I learned to strengthen my relationship with Christ were emotions... I learned emotions are like gods alarm systems going off inside us when the following occur

What were they put in us for and why?
Loneliness - when I have bought a lie that anyone or anything can comfort me more than god can
Anger- alarm when I have bought into the lie I do not have to release gods mercy or forgiveness
Stress and anxiety- alarm when I have bought the lie that I do not have to ask for gods help
Fear- alarm when I have bought the lie that someone or something is in mote control them God is...

Just tossing ideas out

Shirley posts a lot of fantastic threads in the miscellaneous forum.
 
I have tossed out a handful of new threads in a certain forum from time to time for these reasons:

1. I was encouraged to by some who frequent that forum;
2. 3-4 days went by and nothing/little moved; no/very few new postings were entered; and/or
3. People began to complain about an abundance of negative/critical/intense/sex related threads overwhelming the forum and they wanted a break.

If there are threads I like, or feel deserve more attention than they have gotten, that disappear from the main page, I will normally either create a new post on that thread or simply bump it. :) Hope that helps! :)
 
Now I'm wondering if you posted in here because you like my thread! :)

Personally, I enjoy it when I see a new thread by you pop up. You have some very well-thought-out threads!

If you don't mind making your opinion public, what do you think of a ten thread per week limit? Fair? Dumb? Draconian? None of my beeswax? :D
 
How about singling out the actual offender/s and having the mods shoot them a friendly email reminder saying, "Hey, people are complaining about the amount of new threads you've been making because they make other people's new threads disappear too fast,...blah blah blah...so we'd like to kindly ask you to please try to limit yourself to only a few new threads per day/hour/um..minute?"

My thought was that an automatic server message would result in fewer hurt feelings than even a friendly e-mail. But I'd be fine with that if the mods wanted to do that instead. Another thing is, I hear they're pretty busy as is, and something automatic might be a relief to them.
 
At some point, it occurred to me that increasing the [minimum] number of threads listed on the forum thread list page might help.

It would be nice if the 'Number of Posts to Show Per Page' setting in the 'Thread Display Options' part of the 'Edit Options' section of the User Control Panel actually applied to every Thread List or Post List page... (including Forum thread lists)

Or, possibly a separate setting for 'Number of Threads to Show Per Page'?

(And - by the way - why is there a maximum limit of 40 per page? Personally, I would like to be able to set it to 50 - or even 100.)

I agree with you.

I was wondering if this would make it needful for more moderators

to be added and an increased financial need to keep the site running.

People will be people and not police themselves when it comes to

starting too many threads and running other threads off the page too quickly.
