I work for the local newspaper and we do the Brownsville paper as well so I have been excited about this Tina Turner statue since they announced it like a year ago
Taylor was beloved by the community as she was from nutbush which isn't far away from brownsville.

Tina was easily one of the best performers of all time. She brought a raw energy to the stage that just couldn't be matched.
She hadn't even bigger following in Europe

Anyway, I can't believe this artist got paid $150,000 for this monstrosity.
Terrible job capturing her likeness. I was so mad I emailed the mayor.
If you go to Facebook and look at the comments, they are almost unanimously comments of disappointment
 

"All the children say
We don't need another hero
We don't need to know the way home
All we want is life beyond Thunderdome

So, what do we do with our lives
We leave only a mark
Will our story shine like a light or end in the dark?
Give it all or nothing"

Whoever paid the artist that much clearly has more cash than sense.

It would have helped in vetting candidates for this project if they would have asked potential candidates if they were fans of Ms.Turner.

She looks like she's wearing a Bearskin.

it was a nice gesture and a nice idea, but 100% could and should have been done better..
 
9 Brownsville didn't even run the story in their newspaper after it was unveiled, they're probably ashamed of it
 
It's from her costume as Auntie from Thunderdome. I actually liked it, dang ya'll just frumpy I think, Tina Turner was a gem that actually contributed significantly to America culture both music and film.
