told to contain your desire to praise God on here?!?!?

I'm shocked more than I've ever been on this site. It's sad enough that others refused and rejected to praise God last night but went on about none sense talk in the Bible study room, BUT then just now, I'm told ''it might be hard to do, but try to contain yourself'' because we were all praising God, and some decided they wanted to play music instead. Well I told them, and I'll tell all of you again, and again NO I will not try to contain anything, for the Lord said praise Him! I will NOT quench the Spirit. If someone is offended by a brother or sister praising God and rejoicing, then something's majorly wrong. I'm debating very seriously just leaving the site, I hope this issue doesn't come up for anyone else.

I've seen many things happen, and just brushed them off, said I won't let it get me down. Well, I won't let this get me down either, I'll rise up and CONTINUE praising God no matter what! I posted this NOT to cause problems, but to warn you be careful when you chat, apparently some are offended on here when you obey God speaking to you. To say the enemy is attacking left and right, and we MUST come together and pray, we must rebuke the enemy and his attacks on us and this site. There's a room for music, if anyone wants that rather than praising God, worship, and study time, which is what was going on then they should take the music to you sing.

I mean no offense, but the Lord said to speak up and post this, so I have. All I'm asking is that others help pray about this issue. I love and appreciate this site and all those on it SO much, this is a huge concern and so I post this out of love, care, and concern. Maybe they were having an off day or something? who knows, lets just pray about it! I can't believe I was told to contain myself because I was praising God. Has this happened to anyone else on here?

I agree wholeheartedly. We will spend all eternity praising God so we sould get in practice down here. It is a command of the Lord. If we don't do it, the rocks will!

Thanks for the understanding, agreement, encouragement, and response! I mean no offense or disrespect to anyone, however I'm not going to back down for anyone no matter whom they are. God takes control it can't be contained! Why would you want to contain it anyways? Makes no sense to me.I was worried, no one responded for so long...I was like wow, is this for real? seriously no one cares? I mean come on so many thousands of chatters or more on here, and no one says anything! How many times in Scripture are we told to rejoice and praise God no matter what, and without ceasing? alright then!

I find it amazing, I found out last Saturday my stepmother has cancer, and then because I told them a little about God and my faith, they blow me off...I'm unsure if I'll be able to return to college this coming quarter, my mother is living a bad lifestyle, my cousin that just turned 18 is throwing her life away, lost, doing really bad things, half the family is outraged at her(understandably to an extent), so much anger and stuff, the list is endless yet God gives me peace through it all! How can I just not rejoice? I MUST rejoice, at least I'm not saying ''oh why has God forsaken me" or being all depressed about things, cause He NEVER leaves or forsakes us!

Rather than wallow in self-pity over things, I keep seeking God, rejoicing, praising Him, my spirits are high! What the enemy can do the to flesh, is nothing, it could kill my flesh, but my spirit shall ALWAYS rejoice and live! Those of us in Christ Jesus shall live forever and not see death! Glory hallelujah! praise You Father God!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt anyone here wants you to stop praising God, but I can certainly empathise with those who find the repetition of certain expressions of praise tiresome.

You know, this site has been under attack for a long time. The person that said this is a pastor...that's the saddest part of all. There is a time for all things yes, but you know what....when God tells me to rejoice for Him and bring praise to His name, I'm going to do it. The room was totally into it, loved it, and ONE person, one ''bad apple'' decided to speak up and say that we should all just hush pretty much. Why? so they could be selfish and take over. We were in there to to do the right thing. Worship and bring praise to God. He was there for himself, to do what he wanted, run things his way. Well you know something...it's NOT about him at all and he needs to realize that. If someone gets tired from or of praising God something's wrong. They need to get checking up on things. Cause He IS our strength and He WILL be/give us the strength to carry on, to push through, and continue praising Him.

So you're complaining about one person? It sounds as though you're making a mountain out of a molehill. Presumably (since he was in the minority) you all carried on anyway? So what's the problem?

What do you mean by 'praising'? Because certainly, some expressions of praise can and do get tiring, both for particpants and witnesses; I disagree that there is 'something wrong' when this happens.

No we didn't carry on. He was rude and stopped it. You know what take your negative attitude else where. This happens all to often on this site. Yes there's a problem if someone's claiming to be to tired to praise God, cause he IS our strength as I said. I'm not even about to argue with you, so just go on please, and God bless you.

I assure you that I am not the one with a negative attitude. On the contrary, I'm attempting to see the best in people; I consider it a mark of charity. Please don't simply waive off people as 'negative' just because they might not be in full agreement with you.

As for getting tired of praising God, again, it depends what you mean. Singing hymns? Reciting prayers? No one can keep that up indefinitely; it's tiring.

I have to agree with ..BOTH of you!! (Stand_Up_4_God and Maddog) because you both have some valid points.

Stand_Up_4_God......I agree it is wonderful to praise God and keep right on praising God when you feel it in your heart to pour it out....GO for it!!!! I also beleive that, that's what the Bible Study or maybe the Prayer room is for...and that others who are more in the mood to sing or "just chat" can go to yousing or lounge or random or etc etc......

Maddog.....I get your point as well....I too have had times when praising the Lord came in other ways than repetively singing or saying Alleluia!!! Praising Him can also BE "just chatting" (any subject) if done in respect and in harmony with others.

I truly pray that the two of you can try to see each other's points without any more "negativity" flying.......God Bless you both..and ALLELUIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stand up I understand your concern, but when things like this happen, it's best to contact a moderator, instead of creating a post about it.

This post started as a mostly legit concern asking folks to be more aware of things, but now it's coming close to being about calling someone out on something they did.

So in the future if there is one person you feel who did something wrong, can you please just contact a moderator about it?

I trust the intent of your post, but these things can develop in to posts where fingers get pointed in different directions and it can lead to unneeded drama.

So to prevent that from even happening, in the future please just contact a moderator and let us deal with it.

If there is no mod in the room, send a cc email to me or another moderator.

Once again, I'm not questioning your intent in this post, I'm just saying that posts like these can evolve in to quasi finger pointing events, that end up causing unneeded turmoil. To prevent that it's just best to contact a a mod.

People are familiar with each other on this site and after this, people will be wondering 'which pastor'. So that could lead to further speculation and even to unwarranted slander.

So yeah, it's just best to close this thread.
