Hello as it's obvious I'm a gamer. Are you one as well? This website has hundreds of topics and this is just one of those few. But before I can fully explain I should tell you about my life.

I'm only 14 years old, a tomboy, gamer, otaku (I watch the appropriate anime no hentai or anything please), YouTuber, a student, and most of all a Christian. As you know being one or all of these is a big task, as being a Christian states that we cannot be these. Recently I bought a game called "The Resistance" When I got the package my mother opened it. Yes the thing some parents do for whatever reason, but its not like I boughr a bomb XD Anyways she automatically went haywire and said "This is a bad game" Now I know that what the game is about isn't exactly, actually is breaking a rule; never tell a lie. My mother even went to sending me notes from a pastor about games and children.

Basically said this, "Children shouldn't play games because the devil is in there, its a way he tricks people. Focus on God"

I was devastated that I game I wanted to play so much and enjoyed playing was another thing I had to throw away, just because it doesn't fit Christian standards. I had thought it was a fun game, and you guys all know the feeling of testing your skill. I was tired of always that being a tomboy would make me end up in these situations.

Now don't get me wrong. I still have my hair out long, love adorable, fluffly animals to the max, and don't mind wearing a dress once in a while. However being a tomboy as I am, I "thirst" for excitement. I find life boring and seeming to force us to live by standards.

Back to what my mom sent. The problem with this post is that it's from an adult's perspective. Back then games with certain adults were not as popular as today. We practically grew up in this environment. How can they understand what we go through, if they never knew? My mother calls me hard-headed, but it can't be helped since I'm so different....

I'm planning to post more soon. Have any thoughts? Maybe some questions? Responses are most welcome!

Second, hm. it's difficult. Actually you've opened my eyes, bc I never thought these rules from our God applies also in games. I'm not that into in games, but he. It's a serious point. I can imagine what your mother says, it really makes sense, but I can also understand your point of view... How do you wanna deal with this? When your mother wasn't there, what would you have done, and why? And your friends, are they christian? Do they game too?

Heh I know not everyone is a gamer, but it's nice to know there's someone out there and thanks. I already cried and did extensive research on it, btw can't find much strangely. I expected more information about this type of topic, but none to show so I posted this to find answers. First off hmm if my mom wasn't there, I would probably never know about the "bad game" I wouldn't know that it was bad, though most of the time my mom finds something satanic about everything so... '-' I'm pretty unstable and cry when I'm at home. School eh? Well I have a large variety in friends some Christian, Atheist, Buddist, etc. Some game, some are nerds, and other. I just realized how many types people I know 0-0 The original people I bpught the game to play with, is to categorize it The Facts, The Christian, and two No Sides (idk what they believe in currently, I forgot I'll have to ask) We don't really do anything for lunch, so I made a paper version and we played. My mom just gave me her point of view and I told her mine. I can understand that the game has qualifies that isn't good, Terrorism apparently by over-throwing a gov. given by god. I also stated "What if all the horrible was splashed down?" Like the paper version I made that had no story or backround. Regarding research I found a pastor who uses games to interact with his students, I tried to say the reason why he's doing it though it's wrong. Though in my point of view we as teens in this current world, grew up in a vast environment. Thus just presenting the gospel to us might not work, as it did back then. I have decided to take the game to school, against my mom's wishes, and ask my fellow players their opinions' And I will return with my findings.
 
This is largely an age issue but not strictly about parents and adults. Neither is this a 'Christian' issue because i know of many adult Christians that play games. You're seeing what's in your immediate sphere of influence, but outside of that sphere the concept you see of Christian isn't the same. In fact, while there may be many Christians that think games are a waste of time, by their nature, the minority take it as far as your mother by saying the devil is in all games. And still a large group that do play games.

In reality your description of yourself is pretty standard of teens in general.
 
many of the games have demonic influence, on all ages - it's not an adult opinion, but spiritual origin behind some. the origin of the game, (the spiritual origin, not the company that makes it), will have
or may have lifetime effects (negative , obviously, if demonic) on your soul, mind and welfare.

it seems you listen to you mom and will do as she says. that is good. keep doing as she says,
and pray a lot every day. read the BIBLE on your own frequently (take even some time that used to be playing games to read God's Word), and you will do much better than most others your age, for your whole life.

You are a pretty standard teen. :) I play video games(PC gamer), anyway you'll find that some people think video games or the devil and some don't. The bible doesn't say anything about it, and I would leave it to your holy spirit to decide what is best for you. Anime, i used to watch it a lot, but I've just grown out it, but it's still cool. I would follow your mothers advice and respect her, but if you feel she is in wrong, discuss it with her. Welcome btw!
 
You probably need to explain to your mum what the game is basically all about maybe it'll change her view a bit. Also being a tomboy, gamer and an anime fan is preety cool :)
