well unless you think its okay to kill, torture, imprison, or otherwise negatively affect the quality of life of homosexuals, im not sure why this is very important.

Because it will mean not being able to stand on street corners telling homosexuals they are dirty filthy perverts who will go to hell and will mean the use of the word Sodomite will be frowned upon.

Uhh... it's already a bad idea to do those two things.

1: it doesn't win over many converts
2: if you end up in a news article, or on facebook, or a hundred other social media sites - kiss your career goodbye.


Aside from that though, the wording of the UN bill is (as is typical) quite vague and overly verbose. It doesn't seem to discuss freedom of speech (or limitation thereof) just that physical violence and discrimination against gay people is to be combated.

It's less far reaching than legislation in most of the developed world already is.
 
What happened to the Sovereignty of Nations? The UN has no jurisdiction over a sovereign nation.

youre right we should let nations decide how badly they want to treat people. then we can have a bunch of little ugandas running around putting people to death just for being gay

It's still (mostly) intact. They don't have to sign any treaties they don't want to be a part of.

Well, until they git hit with economic sanctions, then they're kind of stuck.


People want a world government I suppose.
