U.N. takeover of the internet?

Yesterday's news reported that a secret was busted: The U.N. is secretly trying to takeover rule of the internet & apply laws, possible taxation, etc.
It was also reported that the U.S. already objected.
Why didn't the U.S. inform U.S. citizens & the other gov'ts inform their citizens as well?

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.
...then again, the EU could use some taxes to fix their financial crisis

And: The internet is already controlled way more than you know. And the US government wold probably like being in control, so rather than tell their citizens, they would join in, just like any other government

Some good news, however. The House just approved a resolution to keep Internet control out of UN hands. The question now is will Obama and the Senate get on board or simply cede it all over to the U.N.?
