This is a tough one. And, since I'm bored, I'm going to argue both sides and show you my train of thought and maybe by the end I'll come to some sort of conclusion
I would rather have vision over hearing:
It's no secret that God has blessed us with a beautiful world full of colors, shapes, lights, shadows, and many other things that make nature worth almost worshiping. I don't think it would be easy for me to live and not be able to see the delicateness and intricacy that God gave us. The way the sun shines, the leaves sway, a fish swims, the water glistens... these are all sights that I treasure deeply. And I honestly don't think I could be color blind. There's something about the odd way yellow and turquoise blend together when sunlight meets the ocean that brings tears to my eyes and makes me praise our wonderful Creator even more. He created this for us to show His glory. Genesis 1 is the account of creation. God made everything, and then He made man. He could have just made a dark, void earth with bland food and greyness and shadows everywhere. But He didn't. This says to me that humans in some respect need to see these wonderful things. God shows Himself in creation and while I'm not saying that a blind person can't be saved and can't worship God for creation, they are missing out on an aspect of what God has given us. There are many many MANY other ways to see God and many other ways to enjoy His creation, but seeing what He's put before us and trusted us to take care of is breathtaking.
I would rather have hearing than vision:
If you know anything about me, you know that music is my passion and something that I live for. I play three instruments and sing and I write songs. But I'm not Mozart. I don't think I could be deaf and still write beautiful melodies just by feeling the vibrations or however he was able to do it. It's amazing some of the gifts God gives to people. When I'm around music, I can't help but focus on it. I focus on the melodies, the chord structure, the color notes inter-weaved into the construct that make it shine, how the tempo and words and accents all work together to create art... it's amazing. And God gave it to us to enjoy and use to praise His name. I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt and without sounding like a preppy, emotional preteen, that music is my life. Beside my faith in Christ, music is what defines me. I live and breathe music. And if I wasn't able to hear it, I think honestly I would have trouble finding my purpose and also have trouble believing that there is a God that loves me. Now that's not to say that there's no purpose for deaf people because that would be really ignorant and downright idiotic for me to say. God uses everyone and gives to His people gifts and passions that they can use for His glory. It is a beautiful concept to me.
Well. Tough decision. But, I'm going to have to say that I would rather be able to hear than see. There's just something about the way a D rings in a C2 chord that makes me love music even more and encourages me to strive to be better at it each day. Even if I couldn't see, I could still hear the whisper of the leaves in the wind, hear the rush of the waves, hear the gentle song of a bird. But I honestly don't think I could go through life without hearing the laugh of a child; hearing what true happiness not only feels like, but sounds like. I need sound. I need my melodies and harmonies all tangled up in a mess for me to sort out and bend to my imagination. But that's just me
