War Party beats drums for action in Syria

Is a dangerous partisan divide really destroying the American government? It's pretty hard to discern that from the policy debate on Syria, where our two-party system divides like this: Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky on one side, and everybody else on the other.
Paul argues that there are no clear good guys in Syria; that the recent U.S. track record in the Middle East - from Afghanistan to Iraq to Libya - suggests that nobody in the American government has a credible understanding of the region's political nuances; and that any U.S. intervention is likely to create more problems than it will solve.
On the other side of the argument are such supposed ideological opposites as Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Robert Menendez, D-N.J., Bob Casey, D-Pa., and John McCain, R-Ariz, all of whom want the United States to sweep into Syria with guns blazing. McCain, who has never encountered a foreign-policy problem that couldn't, in his opinion, be solved by dropping a bomb on it, even labeled Paul a "wacko bird" for his dangerous unbelligerence.
The relentless yammering of the Syria hawks is pushing President Obama steadily toward another Middle Eastern military intervention. The administration originally offered rhetorical sympathy, but not much more, to the rebels trying to oust Bashar Assad. Then it decided to permit other countries to ship U.S. arms to the (supposedly) nonradical factions of the rebels. Now we're giving guns directly to those rebels.
The next step down this slippery slope, which McCain and others are urging (and for which the Pentagon is preparing plans), is establishing a no-fly zone over Syria to negate the power of Assad's air force against the rebels. This sounds innocuous, but it isn't.

the usual suspects.
....
well, considering they're now throwing TURKEY under the bus as expected (though there's a slight possibility the 'uprisings' in Turkey could be Iran and/or Russia making a move), this is going to get NASTY(er).
but, Israel is going to have that region if it's the last thing she does.
no cost is too high (for Americans to pay).
get ready....if american citizens resist ANOTHER fake humanitarian intervention because the FAKE Al Quaeda agents success - 60,000+ dead - isn't turning the tide against Assad, something will happen to convince you (that expanding the war on terror is a must-do)
Israel suspected over Iran nuclear programme inquiry leaks
Western officials believe Israel may have leaked information from IAEA investigation in bid to raise global pressure on Tehran
Monday 10 December 2012
Israel is suspected of carrying out a series of leaks implicating Iran in nuclear weapons experiments in an attempt to raise international pressure on Tehran and halt its programme.
Western diplomats believe the leaks may have backfired, compromising a UN-sanctioned investigation into Iran's past nuclear activities and current aspirations.
The latest leak, published by the Associated Press (AP), purported to be an Iranian diagram showing the physics of a nuclear blast, but scientists quickly pointed out an elementary mistake that cast doubt on its significance and authenticity. An article in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists declared: "This diagram does nothing more than indicate either slipshod analysis or an amateurish hoax."

"What started last week as a small protest against Erdogan's plans to demolish the park has morphed into something much bigger: a non-political mass movement, driven by popular outrage at brutal police tactics. Erdogan has abrasively dismissed his opponents as looters, marauders and bums. On Tuesday his deputy Bulent Arinc struck a more emollient tone, apologising for earlier police violence. He also offered to meet their leaders.
But in reality, the thousands who gathered spontaneously again in Istanbul's Taksim Square, next to the park, do not have an ideology or party political identity. They are non-led. What they share is a keen sense of grievance against Erdogan personally. They accuse him of, among other things, bad ruling habits and developing increasingly pharaoh-like tendencies."
