If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing (epiginosko: to discern, knowing full well) our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled (passive-aorist :without knowing it) in it and are overcome(passive-present: a person is defeated/ overcome by the world w/out a fight) they are (are>verb: active perfect) worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.
21. It would have been better for them not to have known (epiginosko) the way of righteousness, than to have known(epiginosko) it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.
1.) Silent Entrapment:

2 Timothy 2:24-26-> 24. The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25. with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,26. And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.
The devil will use traps so that he can do his will.
*Snare of materialism >1 Timothy 6:9->9. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.
*Unaware & overconfident> 2 John 1:8/ 1 Timothy 4:16/1 Corinthians 10:12
2 John 1:8-> Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.
1 Timothy 4:16-> Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
1 Corinthians 10:12-> Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.
Be careful that u do not fall into temptation!
2.) Present defeat:
*without a fight: the corruption of the world has already been successful.
*assured loss already.
Constant VICTORY is ours to enjoy with superior habituation. We are winning even when we are asleep even when doing nothing.
