Also, maybe humor / memes related to the above, but unlike Reddit it is possible to get a response other than a down vote by adapting to said community.
Essentially positive posts or "look what I made" just go ignored or get down voted, but a problem looking for a solution also gets ignored, and then so does a rant. Even comments on a post agreeing with, supporting OP or offering a solution that may work for them OR someone else with a similar problem, get ignored.
If I meet someone in person who has ever been in the mood to give me or anyone else the time of day, it's basically a given that they will never have heard of an online OR offline community for any hobby or pastime.
And then if I try to find a group that still actually meets even online, I can eliminate all my options just by the criteria of "1. Must still have scheduled meetings and 2. There must be at least the host there" even if I pivot beyond local in-person ones and look at online gaming groups, accepting new or existing members is a deal breaker for anyone looking.
