Here is a random question...would Jesus carry a concealed weapons permit? And if so isn't that a contradiction to the faith in him. However, Peter carried a sword, so who knows.

Matthew 26:52 (Young's Literal Translation) "Then saith Jesus to him, `Turn back thy sword to its place; for all who did take the sword, by the sword shall perish;"

There's no record of any of the disciples using their weapons except for Peter. Although Jesus did tell them to carry swords and two of them did.

The first christians were pacifist in the strictest sense.

This ruled out military service etc unless in a non-combat role.

So I don't believe Jesus would approve of concealed weapons. Although carrying one might be ok, just not using one.

You should never pull a gun unless you have a the intent of using it. But the Jews under Gods command had no problem fighting people...

That's true but with God on their side remember the Israelites vastly out numbered defeated their enemies.
So it raises another question do you think God could let you win over an enemy who has an AK47 with only your bare hands or a stick.

I think it's ok to carry and use weapons. Jesus's disciples carried and used one, for defense against wild animals mainly I think, and possibly robbers etc. But it's important not to live by it. I.e. don't put your trust in it over God, it's a last resort. I think they would have called on the name of Jesus first before drawing any weapons. The interesting thing is that Jesus said he could have called angels to help him when Peter cut the guys ear off. Jesus probably didn't carry any sort of sword. So yes, faith, is probably a bit contradictary to carrying a weapon if we trust in the weapon more than God. Maybe we should call on God's angels for help first.
