1. What gear are you in with your family?
2. your parents?
3. your image?
4. your schoolwork?
5. your extracurricular activities?
6. your commitments?
7. your convictions about what’s right and wrong?
8. your relationship with Jesus?

Read John 8:1-11;
9. What gear do you think these people were in?
· the Pharisees and teachers of the law
· the woman caught in adultery
· Jesus
10. What’s the significance of Jesus’ words to the woman in verse 11? What gear did he desire for the woman to be in?

When Jesus tells the woman, “Go now and leave your life of sin,” he’s telling her to leave her life of sin, and put her life in into drive; and begin moving forward again. She’s been pulled out of the ditch of adultery, and she’s ready to drive on.

11. What do these 2 statements mean to you as they pertain to the John 8 story and the gears our lives are in?
· “God did not create you to live in neutral.”
· “God did not free you to live in reverse.”

The first quote deals with being paralyzed by sin and never moving forward in life because of fear, guilt, or the unknown of what is going to happen. The second quote deals with freedom in Christ ~ like what the woman in John 8 experienced. God did not free you to live in sin. You see to many times we get a mixed taste for sin and God’s grace. We like the taste of both, so we never flee the sin and live in the light of God’s grace. Just playing church and going through the motions. Jesus intends for his followers to move forward in freedom, rather than repeatedly reversing our lives into the ditch of sin.

· Romans 6:23
· Romans 3:23
· 1 John 2:1

12. What do you need to do to begin shifting gears in your life with Jesus?
We need to step up, change our lives, and walk the way that is pleasing to God.

Some people say that God is not fair, well He’s not. Because if He was He would give us what we all deserve. Hell. But because of His mercy and grace his gives us a second chance which is eternal life with Him.

And some people don’t believe that God, heaven, hell, or even Satan is real. My Youth pastor told me we Christian have nothing to lose, if we died and there was a God we would go to Heaven if not we will be remember as good people, but the people that are not saved they have everything to lose if God is real they would go to hell if they were not saved. And they would be remember as people who done wrong.
So I’m asking you, What gear are you in? chose who you will serve; good or evil ?
