What is entailed of us to be kept from the power of evil?

I was mulling over on how good would be to be in communion with a holy and pure group of brethren in Christ. Having, in company, people with whom we can count on at a bad time, before whom we can be ourselves, show our flaws, share our defects and find buttress.

Unfortunately, we waste many time fooling around and neglecting what Peter said:

  • “Be sensible and vigilant, because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour; whom firmly resist in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions in the world are being completed in your brotherhood.” (1Peter 5.8,9).

The absence of sobriety makes us fraught of desires which war against our soul (1Peter 2.11), make it lose itself (Proverbs 1.19).

With so many people being afflicted in our brotherhood, we would have to take into account the hypothesis of turn away all semblance of the evil (1Thessalonians 5.22), namely, everything that, although looks like something good for the body, it is a lie in our lives in virtue of this have nothing to do with the plan of Jesus for us and, obviously, abet us to keep the neighbor at bay.

May our pleasure be Jesus Christ and His knowledge (Psalms 37.7), to the point of that His wisdom enters, not only in our mind, but chiefly in our heart:

  • “When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasing to your soul; judgment shall keep you, understanding shall keep you,” (Proverbs 2.10,11).

Recalling that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of the wisdom, if the fear of the Lord come into our heart, the understanding and the judgment of Jesus will keep us safe from the sin, the devil and ourselves, so that we can be useful to people around us.

Try to imagine the judgment of Jesus saving our lives! This is the promise that will come about us if we give in to Jesus and His word:

  • “But if you shall indeed obey His voice, and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and a foe to your foes.” (Exodus 23.22).

So, let’s allow that Jesus’ wisdom, knowledge, understanding and judgment ingrain inside us and, not only we will be safe, but we will be a shelter against the storm and rain to the people of the Creator that is being oppressed (Isaiah 14.32).

Have a grandiose week poring over it in Christ Jesus.
