Therefore: The Love to be applied by Man in these 2 Commandments is a Love from God.
God the Father will not give his Love to us if we don't follow the first Commandment.

When the standards are different, you default to the highest standard. That way, you fulfill THAT standard and every lesser one.
So, when Christ gave us the standard "Love one another as I have loved you" He made the previous standard (Love as much as you can) obsolete. It was possible for man to argue, under the old commandment "I cannot love anyone because I do not love myself". Fair point.
BUT, since Jesus gave a greater commandment that requires mans' love to equal God's love, man cannot argue argue out of it. If the man is truthful, he will be come desperate and call on the Lord to save him.
