What is your defense? (Part 2).
Continuing to talk about the preparation of the gospel of peace (Eph 6:15), when I was to sleep, I recalled this verse:
• “NUN: Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” (Psalms 119:105).
The gospel, when prepared by prayers, meditation and practice, makes our feet similar to Christ’s ones:
• “And His feet were like burnished brass having been fired in a furnace. And His voice was like the sound of many waters.” (Rev 1:15).
In other words, as the Jesus’ word is alive and efficacious (Hebrews 4:12), it adorns, protects and enlightens our feet. What we need is to keep in touch with Jesus so that He can work in us the ability to desire and do (Phil 2:13) His good, perfect and pleasant will (Rom 12:2) which keep our mind and feelings in Christ:
• “And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Php 4:7).
*The fourth weapon*: faith (Eph 6:16). It acts as a shield which make us able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. That is to say, when we really wish to be protected against it.
After all, many times people ache so much for having a reason for feeding their feud, increasing their profits, growing in their career, etc., that they end up contriving a shield against Jesus and His purity, holiness, mercy and grace. What they desire is an excuse to try to be like the Creator (as took place with Eve – Gen 3:5), taking over everything and everyone.
Trying to take on all the problems and injustices of the world is intricated and only make us frustrated with ourselves, the world and until with Jesus. It had better we put on the next weapon:
*The fifth weapon*: salvation (Eph 6:17). Instead of trying to save us and people that we care for, let’s protect our mind with the salvation that Jesus acquired for us. After all, if Jesus is, indeed, our unique Savior, if His salvation in perfect, why dawdle trying to find another way out of Christ that leads to the Father (see John 14:6)?
• “For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they are still alive; for the vision to all her multitude shall not return, and *a man shall not hold his life strong in iniquity* .” (Ezekiel 7:13).
Our justice, which is like toilet paper (Isaiah 64:6), only will bring us low:
• “Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.” (Psa 106:43).
So, for the nonce, have a brilliant day allowing Jesus’ gospel to prepare your feet and path, Jesus’ faith (Galatians 2:20) to defend you against the bad conversations (1Cor 15:33) and Jesus’ salvation to overturn all the strongholds of the sin in our mind (2Cor 10:4).
