Hi there my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Do you have a real walk with God? Do you put God first in all you do? Do you start your day with prayer, thanks and the scriptures? Is the last thing you do at night give thanks and prayer? Are you lost in the love of Christ from God for you and the world? Despite its wickedness and corruption?
And what for when you're tempted by something you know to be a sin? Do you recognize it, face it and then go to God in prayer to ask for strength to overcome it? Do you actually do that?
Because it is written, 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
I'm talking about when you want to do something you know to be a sin. Realize if you do it, it will be, and then getting on your hands and knees and pouring yourself out to God for strength to overcome it. Blood, sweat and tears type of praying. And then actually find the strength you need to escape the temptation and then, be able to bear it?
Do you do that?
If you do that, and you find the strength to not do the sin you're tempted to do. Then man, fair play to you. Power to you. I'm actually envious of you. For you must have that real walk with God and be fortunate enough to know about His love for you and you work for His love too.
That's noble. That's respectable. But we're all on different walks with God. With an understanding of the Holy trinity, His plan and will for our life and the world on a whole. Some of us don't have that same close walk with God. Although many don't be are believers and will be saved through their faith alone, despite them not having a very close walk with God.
I know, there are many sinners alive today, that believe in God, and that what the bible says is true. And even though they repeat those sins on the daily and don't go to God to ask for strength to overcome them, but do often repent, even smite their chest like that Roman tax collector did in Luke 18:13 standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I tell you now, even such as these will be saved through their faith alone. Because it is through faith that we are justified and made righteous as the Son Himself in the eyes of God. And after all, it's impossible to please God without faith.
Yet I know this, but yet I'm not always going to God for strength! I need to start putting Him first, drawing close unto him and gaining strength from him to battle, overcome and exercise my demons!
To go to Him and pray for the escape I need to bear it. Because I know He loves me and wants the best for me, but the enemy is trying to convince me that he doesn't through my sins. And that's how he sows the seeds of doubt.
I guess this is part confession, part self learning. Just something I needed to get off my chest.
What ways do you gain strength from God?
