how in the world do you catch up?

sometimes while i am trying to read a hot topic, 6 more pages are written!

i cast my vote for a mandatory summary of previous posts every 15 pages of a thread
:p

So who would do the summaries. The mods? (I'm not sure they would volunteer. I wouldn't! :))

Usually it's pointless. Most threads wander from the original topic anyways. Often time going back a few pages, at most, will catch you up to the most current topic.

Yea, right? Exactly what I was thinking
But good luck with that and dream on ….
I mean I would gladly support you…. but I almost hear Ugly’s voice here from wherevereishe that “this is an open communication forum long threads are part of the natural flow of communication. ..we can not change that or dictate how long threads could be because that would shut down the entire concept of the site, the ability to share ideas and get feedback

And he is kinda right about that …

Nobody can stop human tongue

It seems like after about 40 post the thread starts to derail,

I think at that point there should be an automated reminder,or maybe the thread starter can remind the posters to stick to the thread question;

it would still need to be a treat your neighbor as you would want to be treated by the posters though.

I never read threads that are that long. Some of the threads on this site that get to be that long are about such nothing topics: "which song is on your mind?" "Good morning...." I guess I should be glad the long ones are not on the controversial ones like women in church leadership or if God really hates homosexuals. LOL!!!

:D it is sometimes an exercise in grammar not to mention semantics i.e., "define the word "all"l?", to plow thru the multisylabic and complexly constructed sentences that one oftimes encounters between cut and pastes of the opinions venerated and indeed actively promoted by the aforementioned posters.

Hi posthuman,
I understand your frustration. What I do is read the original post and respond to it in my own words before reading anyone elses replies to it. I believe that God will use each and every one of our posts to speak to those who are seaking the truth or seaking for wisdom, compasion, guidance, simpathy, impathy ect ect...
God bless

At 40+ pages on a thread, I usually find that the original subject matter is either so strayed away from that its hard to figure out how it even got there or its a dead horse already beaten into the ground by the same 5 points made by 40 of us.

And I haven't seen anyone be convinced by scriptures so i just see it as a discussion but a summary would be helpful

I can summarize all long posts. No thread has helped find the truth, each person ends with the same belief.

Some believe some scriptures are not for us and some all scriptures are for us.

Some believe only love is to be listened to for law, some that all law should be listened to.

Some believe the epistles speaks against using rituals to explain Christ, and some believe epistles all speak against all of Moses to explain Christ.

Some believe the OT is good to study to know Christ, and some believe that Christ did away with much of what the OT teaches.

Some believe that if you don’t agree with all they say about law, OT, etc., then you don’t believe in Christ and they are out to get these people against God, and they have an arsenal of scripture they use. You could make a list of like: under grace not law, and on the other side: to love is to obey.

Whichever side you are on, reading the posts won’t help to clear up what scripture says about these things.
