Matthew 14:22-33 KJV
[22] And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. [23] And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. [24] But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. [25] And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. [26] And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. [27] But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. [28] And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. [29] And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. [30] But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. [31] And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? [32] And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. [33] Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
Here peter demonstrated that when we are focused on the Lord, trusting him, putting our faith in him, even on water we are walking with him. Yet when we take our eyes off of him, we fall, we start to drown, we are submerged. That submerging water is like sin. We take our eyes off Jesus and even a small sin can distract us. Next thing we know we are submerged in sin, even to a point to we are over our heads, submerged. But thank you Jesus, because even in the midst, he is willing to forgive us and pull us up, when we cry out to him.
This poem is called " where are thine eyes" because I would like you to self examine yourself as I have been over these last couple of days.
Father please tell me,where are our eyes?
Are they on you, or filled in the lies?
Are they reading your words that you have preserved, or looking at what Satan has to serve?
The eyes are the window that leads to the heart. Are we feeding it your light, or feeding it the dark?
Are we looking in it at any chance? Or keeping it shut, without a glance?
Do we read, is it applied? Dark or light, what is supplied?
Do we look at evil things? Or turn away and not let them cling?
Where are the places we let them go? Is it good for them, will it help us to grow?
At you, do we let them stare? Or peak at Satan, a glance or glare?
Father keep us focused, keep our attention. May we be faithful in all you mentioned.
With all your truth, never to lie. Kept in our hearts, in through the eyes.
And if we slip, stumble to fall. Please forgive us and stand us tall.
This world is wicked and full evil. may we stay focused on you, all of your people.
(Prayer)
Father where are our eyes? Do we keep them on you? Father have we placed them where our attention need not be? Father you deserve our attention, you deserve all that we have because you have given it to us. You have provided a way to have a loving relationship with you. I pray we keep our focus on you. Satan has so many ways he tries to take that attention, distracting us, and pulling us down into sin if we allow him to. Father in these times of temptation, I pray we look upon you, staying away from places we should not allow I eyes to go. Father we love you, and pray we stay faithful to you and the reading of your word. Thank you father for the blessing you give to us daily. We thank you and love you and pray all these in Jesus name amen.
Thank you for reading. I pray if this spoke to your heart in any way, that you will stay away from the places our eyes don't need to be. God bless
