If you suddenly have a good amount of money and can help a person or an organization but you can only help only one, who would you help with that money?

I would fund a ministry that encourages the growth of the mind and spirit. One like what my best friend seeks to form one day.

I have similarly wondered this. And have struggled with it many times over. Personally I like to see the fruit of my contribution (though I try to be as anonymous as I can), so I tend to place my money in the hands of individuals I know who are in need.

However, as has been pointed out in other threads, the impact of your money can be far more widespread by supporting an organization.

I think if there is someone specific who's troubles have been brought to your attention, or who you have a strong connection to, it is probably God's guidance at work. Give to the person. If someone doesn't immediately come to mind, there are many organizations that would benefit. If you truly look deep in your heart, what causes you the most pain? I would seek out an organization that seeks to ease that pain in others.

P.S. We are all different, just because you seek to help some instead of others doesn't mean that they won't be helped. We work together so that no [wo]man has to shoulder the whole burden, even if they are particularly blessed. :)

Agreed, Lightnin', 'individual.'

I speak from experience, well, the Lord led this experience now said...

I helped out a young man , when I was 34 and he was 22 and he was struggling, and, I was helping him learn learn things in life was how I was led, for 3-4 years paid his way to things, just telling him how to do things , get a job, understanding girls was big on his mind and not that I've dated much but I have 1.5 year younger sister and many girl friends in that time when in singles group. ., which he did get a job , a christian singles young man so he knew God but still helped his understanding of God's goodness quicken in his life, and, so, that is a 'person' I helped. Probably not considered large amount money to.some but between meals , even groceries sometimes, little gifts given, it was around 1000-2000, I never kept track. He was 'slow 'too, I should mention that too but also smart and outgoing and harnessing his
potential. I will end there, may start own thread of different top, since lizzietheone, you made think my green brains. :)

I could see myself helping an organization too.
Truly, the Lord leads my life, I hope and pray, and, either is fine, person or organization.

I think I misundetstood the question, but don't you KNOW, just KNOW, it's hard bein' green :D

But, my answer remains the same, I would give a large amount of money to either a person or organization, no preference as I would just would KNOW, just KNOW ;) , from God what to do. The Lord leads. :)

Whoever needed it the most, I suppose.

It's hard to define this, as many people/organizations are in dire need of funding.

I suppose if it went to a organization, then it would need to be one who help/ministered to the largest amount of people in the deepest needs.

I'd probably give it to the Global Methodist Conference though, who would then divide it amongst every country in the world where they had missions and conferences. (which is slightly short of all of them) We always have vital ministries with little funding. Mexico and Cambodia both showed me that.

That's a tough one....there are so many people in need and so many organizations which I think are fighting for a good cause. I think I would help an organizations rather than a person though...because they can help more people and spread the blessing, now what organization? I don't know...one that is supporting people desperately in need of money and spiritual food probably.

I have it in my will (yes, I know I am young but never can be too prepared) that any monetary assets I were to come across in my life would be donated to a local childhood cancer organization called Project Ed Bear, who funds a weekend camp for children with cancer and/or other life-threatening illnesses, funds scholarships each year for new college students, provides necessary items to those who need them, etc.

Sweet question. I would take the money and find people who are honestly helping survivors of ritual abuse. Then I'd start a sort of small joint venture with them (that I believe would grow and spread): real estate development for houses or/and apartments as safe places for clients, salaries for Christian therapists so the clients don't have to pay, and networking with several other trustworthy Christian ministers and foundations that aid the clients in order to keep continual accountability in the affairs of business, therapy, finances, and management.
