Why are we trying to enlarge our terms?

• Amo 1:13-15 -> “Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: but I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind: and their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.”.

The Amonites yearned for this very much, to the point of ripping up the pregnant of Gilead. It comes the question: they needed this?



I don’t think so. The problem is that, many times, the soul of the person is like the death (Prov 27:20; Hab 2:5): they never get sated. See the case of the crazy rich:

• Luk 12:16-21 -> “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”.

He craved for being fraught of goods so that he can live in revelry and feast, as the rich of (Luke 16:19-31).



It’s good to seek enlargement when there are people to be blessed through this:

• Isa 54:1-3 -> “Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.”.

And Paul spoke about this:

• 2Co 6:11-13 -> “O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged. Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels. Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.”.

However, most of the people looks forward to living like this:

• Isa 5:8 -> “Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!”.

What they ignore is that, alone, they don’t have anybody to help them in the moments of necessity:

• Ecc 4:9-12 -> “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”.

It’s not in vain that the Creator didn’t oust the enemies of Israel at once:

• Deu 7:22 -> “And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.”.

So, have a great day seeking wisdom, ken and understanding so that you enlarge in your life only what is good:

• Pro 16:22 -> “Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.”.
