Why God said this?!

...And the Lord said to him.(Cain)."Therefore,whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold".../Genesis 4:13-15/

I was looking at the face of my Lord and I was aksing Him.....
"Oh...,my Lord...WHY You said this?!...Oh,does Cain deserved this?!...What did you want to do then..and what does it mean...?.."
When I have read this I couldn't stop thinking over its meaning...
Really my Lord want to show how much He tolerates Cain..-.one killer...who really deserve to be killed..?!...
I couldn't do my tasks till I wanted to discover the mistery..
But the depth is so unfathomable and so endless that I am challenged...
Seven is the number of God's completeness.
May be these words want to show Cain that God will be uncompromised even to Cain's death ..
There are many directions to looking for:
The God's character..
The God's desire to put an end of killing people each other..
....
The bottom of the depth is so far yet..
What do you think?
....
My Lord, thank You for Your Mercy to Cain and to me..May be I think I am better than Cain, but I am not.... Your care to him shows only How big is the mercy I can hope You give to me..Thank You!

I don't know your point, but you seemed to have already answered your own Q. ;)

Two points that's in my mind: 1. God is gracious, even to the likes of Cain. God had never delighted in the death of the unbeliever, and by forbidding anyone to kill Cain, he was giving more time for Cain to perhaps repent.

2. Vengeance belongs to God alone. No man, sin-corrupted that he is, has the right to judge and consequently kill anyone. God alone reserved the right to judge or kill Cain, should the latter not repent of his evil ways. Killing Cain would only perpetuate Cain's sin--murder.

Umm Maybe living a long life having to deal with the fact that he killed someone, was the punishment that God had for Cain.. I man stop and think of the guilt you would have to feel everyday of your life knowing you killed someone.. I know that would be very hard for me to live with.

The sole purpose of guilt (and its torment) is to point and drive us to repentance... ;) Sadly, many failed to transcend guilt unto repentance (ie. Judas, Cain)

I do not think it was a blessing for Cain, it was a curse! When a theif is caught he is to pay back seven fold!? I think it's a lesson on the multiplication of innocent blood that cries out from the earth and the curse of the land. At some point it comes to a tipping point and Jesus comes back! Study on innocent blood shed!

It is God's goodness that leads to repentance! Guilt involves torment, a penalty, punnishment, judgement! We have been set free from the Law of sin and death! The word says that this Law traps us in our sin, those who live by the Law shall die by the Law. We are not suppose to live in guilt and comdemnation, in fact, the devil is limmited to opperate in this Law, useing it to bring comdemnation to those that don't understand thier salvation! Our salvation is Free! We don't have to earn it! We are saved because of what and who we Believe Jesus! Paul said I try to do right, but I always do what I don't want too! We all are sinners saved by Grace, undeserved favor! Paul said the answer is Jesus! Where ever the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom, and perfect love cast out all fear! The Lords mercy always outweights his judgement! Read Gal.- Romans and the book of John!
