We of the "Old Earth" persuasion believe that right before Eden, earth was re-created from an earlier episode of "from scratch" as you put it. See my blog "Old Earth." :cool:

Yeah the "Old Earth" this one is the first one created in history, God would have told us in his word if He had created one in the past.
When God said "Let there be..." it jumped into existance spontainiously.
