Hey all am new here,
I work in a place that is predominantly Union orientated... In the past I have been helped by union officials, but also recently have been ridiculed by delegates and have been receiving a few "smart" comments here and there for no reason other then these delegates want to "big note" them selves in front of newer employees... Since finding Christ and going back to the word... I have left the union and wanted to put my life entirely into gods hands not into the works of man... Since leaving I have had numerous phone calls by delegates saying things like.. "I thought you were a good person" and "how can you turn your back on an organisation who put you where you are"... Now I believe I'm where I am because of Christ, and the path I have been led on in my life... When asked why I left I said the reasons were personal (I didn't want to say my reasons and I didn't want to say because I want my life determined by what gods plan for me is) ... But ... I feel as though it would just be easier to rejoin and do as I'm "supposed to do" at work to save the hassles...
I left the union for two reasons,
Firstly to put my life in the hands of God and only he can determine what my future will hold,
And secondly I had enough of the smart commentary when I would cross paths with delegates because they want to look "tough" in front of the new workers....
Did I do the right thing? Any advice would be great... Thanks

Personally I would not go back, to me it would be like being brought out of Egypt, just to go back to it after escaping. To me it is kind of related to a victim going back to their abuser, because that is what they are use to..or belittled into guilt. This is my advice, but I am not there to see the whole story. Hope this helps!

I think you did right to leave and to stand by your decision but if you are doubtful talk to God about it and He will guide you.

Thanks for advice guys.. It was a tough decision and I know it was the right one.. It's one of those things I can't really discuss with work colleagues because I would be shunned by doing so...

I think you did the right thing. Don't go back. I have been in a union situation where I was one of only a few that weren't in the union. I never joined because I don't like unions. Unionism is directly related to socialism and is anti freedom. I never want anyone standing between me and my boss. If I have a problem with my boss, we will either settle it between ourselves or I will move on to a better job. If enough people leave an employer because the conditions are rotten, that employer and his business will suffer until the situation is corrected. In a free society, the really successful businesses treat their employees well because they want to keep good people, and because they know happy employees do better work.

Here is an old joke about the worker's attitude in communist countries:

"They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work."

Thanks for the advice... I didn't appreciate the comment from one delegate " how can you turn your back on an organisation that got you where you are".. I felt like saying "whoa hold on, I am where I am because of a lot of hard work and by following the path that God has put me on... I'm not here by accident I'm here because I was led here"...

The worst attitudes towards work that I have ever seen were from union people. They always seem to think management is always wrong and the union is always right. Union leaders have a vested interest in not solving problems. If the problems were solved, no one would need the union. My preference would be to always work in a non-unionized company. You leave all the rotten attitude types behind and have greater freedom to advance.

No matters the world think about you!
Always remind some good verses
that help your heart and your mind!
Stay firm, even if yes we can be afraid
of everything but always reminding
that God is there seriously...
I know it's not easy to do,
anyway I've a great verse for you.

Hebrews 12:2

We must keep our eyes on Jesus,
who leads us and makes our faith complete.
He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross,
because he knew that later on he would be glad he did.
Now he is seated at the right side of God's throne!
