yes..God speaks through dreams!!

I was some 12 years old then when I got this strange dream- dream that actually came true! I believe in Lord Jesus and I sort of have this fellowship with Him a little. I dreamed that I along with my sister and my three cousins, was walking by the shops, towards the Velankanni sea shore. It was night, the shops were busy, people were merry, kids were laughing and playing around and we were cheerfully walking down. And then came the great thing which I had not even seen in movies- the waters of the sea rising up like a huge wall, about 20 times as tall as I was, crossing its boundaries into the city! Oh god..I still tremble when I recall the scene!! Then I suddenly felt God's presence with me and we five just leaned onto a wall that was just forming like the shape of an empty box. The waters flooded in mightily with a great roar and I could hear the cry and shouts of all the people there. The waters destroyed everything- those shops, those people who were merry, those children, everything! But none of us ( we five) felt even the splash of the water because the waters just crossed us without even nearing us! Amazing right! When I woke up, I felt so trembled cos I felt it not like a dream but like a real life happening! Exactly like some one or one and a half years later, it was December. We were planning to go to Velankanni for christmas (half yearly holidays) that year. It was my word at last that I refused to go as I had a lot of homework to do though my father said we could go after finishing our Christmas, that is on december 26.
Finally we dropped out the plan! december 26th I took my baptism in water. The next day, I took the newspaper, upon looking at the picture in the main page- highlighted news, I froze! TSUNAMI had hit coastal areas including Chennai, Velankanni and others. The picture! My mind raced back to the scene that stayed pictured in my mind! I had so badly loved Velankanni, especially the sea, since childhood. Every year, we go there for the holidays. IF I had said 'yes' to my father's plan, who knows if I'd still be alive!!
I still wonder if God had wanted me to pray or warn others that He showed this to me!!

I bet if you had gone, and prayed when you saw the thing coming, SOMETHING would have happened. And by something, I mean something good

Never heard of this kind of thing before, and it seems kind of neat. After all, the Holy Spirit will show us things to come. Praise God!

Hi, I do think dreams can tell us things also. I had a dream about an earthquake and I and a few others was saved and holding out our hands to doves in the sky.I always remember this dream.

Most others may not have belived you as far as warning people. You didn't know it would really happen or when. So you can't say you could have saved people by warning them. I do believe had you been there in person know in advance from the dream you would be protected you may have been able to calm the sea. Jesus was our example and he calm the sea to show the diciplces they could to if their faith was strong enough. That example holds true for today. You may look crazy for a minute rebuking a tidal wave or tornado or whatever but can you imagine your faith level and people that would be saved through your faith by that kind of miracle. That's a cool story but don't feel you could have done more. You listened to the holy spirit about not going and I think that's the response god was looking for. Obedience and faith. Isn't that true everyday though. I had similiar dream about tornados. You are right in saying more like a memory of real event than just a dream that is soon forgotten about though

God speaks to me in dreams a lot. I guess its whatever is the best way for him to communitcate with you.

I truly believe that the Lord will speak with you in whatever form is going to be best for you at the time. Dreams are a precious way that He could speak to you. We have seen God show people things through dreams in the bible. Just as dbj72 said, He is going to use whatever is the best way to communicate with you.

God speaks to me often in dreams...infact that is where I learned of my calling to preach and teach...and shortly there after I recieved a confirmation from Dennis Kramer- great man of God- He told me to stand up and His words to me were...preacher, preacher, preacher...teacher, teacher, teacher...God gives dreams!!!
