I was about to leave the hotel room to join the other guest speakers when suddenly, a wave of fear hit me.
Seriously? You’re really going out there to speak? Do you think this is the same small crowd you’re used to? Have you forgotten how you look? Your legs are bent, you’re not tall, and you stutter. What if they can’t understand you? What if the microphones fail? This is a national stage, girl, why don’t you run before you embarrass yourself?
The thoughts came one after another like darts, until I sank onto the bed, tears rolling down my cheeks. I knew that voice. I had heard it since childhood: the devil’s lies, whispering that I wasn’t enough. My C-shaped legs, my short height, my stutter… he always found a way to magnify my insecurities and silence me.
But then I remembered: I wasn’t who he said I was. Years ago, my friend Dera had led me to Christ, taught me God’s Word, and reminded me that my identity was secure in Him. I am not defined by flaws or weaknesses. I am a new creation, a child of God, made in His image and likeness.
Through my tears, I whispered over and over again, “God, help me please" because that was really all I could say at that point, and suddenly, strength began to rise. I stood up, wiped my face, and began to declare truths out loud:
“I am not my looks.”
“I am not my stutter.”
“I am who God says I am.”
“I have the mind of Christ.”
“When I open my mouth, God will fill it.”
“I am more than a conqueror.”
“No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
By the time I finished, the atmosphere in the room had changed. Fear had lost its grip. I picked up my notes and walked into the hall.
When I stepped onto that stage, I half expected to stumble over my words, but from the first sentence, something miraculous happened; I didn’t stutter. Not once. My words flowed clearly, boldly, smoothly. It was as if God Himself had taken over my tongue.
I looked across the room and saw young girls leaning forward, tears glistening in their eyes. They weren’t just hearing me, they were seeing themselves in my story. When it was time to pray, so many came forward, confessing the lies they had believed for years: “I’m not pretty enough.” “I’m not smart enough.” “I’m not worthy.” That day, they saw those lies for what they were; tools of the enemy and many walked away free.
And here’s the part that still amazes me: from that day, I never stuttered again. The very thing the devil tried to use to keep me silent became the proof of God’s power in my life.

Friend, that’s what the enemy does; he feeds us lies to keep us bound in fear, insecurity, and silence. But God’s truth always exposes and destroys those lies. The devil says you’re not enough, but God says, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” The devil says you can’t, but God says, “You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.”
Don’t let his whispers define you. Lift your voice, declare God’s truth, and watch chains fall off.
You are more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens you!
You are enough in Christ!!
Keep going!!!
