This past summer I was priviledged to be able to travel to South Africa for a 3 week mission trip to work with a ministry called JAM--Jabulani Afria Ministries. I was stationed in a very rural village wat a base with 5 other long term and domestic missionaries. One girl was named Lucia (LOO-shuh). She was youthful and vibrant, full of the light of Christ, a servant with a never ending amount of energy and love. She spoke Quosa and Zulu, but somehow communicated with the villagers who spoke Tsonga. She loved Jesus, and wasn't afraid to share it. She was especially drawn to the young women of Mavhusa. She disciples them one by one. Lucia was a young Christian, but she loved Jesus; and she had a profound affect on especially the children and women around her, and on the ministry at Mavhusa. She loved people like Jesus did. During my time there, I spent a lot of time with her cooking, cleaning, playing with kids, sharing a bed, and hacking through the bush.
I received a phone call from another if the Mavhusa missionaries today. On Thursday of last week, Lucia and a friend were watching the ocean when they were suddenly swept off a the rock they were sitting on. The friend was rescued, but Lucia was never found.
Lucia had only her parents and no materia possessions. She lived her life for Jesus. But she left an incredible legacy. There is a big hole in our hearts for her, and a hole in the hearts of many young women in Mavhusa who now have no one to disciple them. Lucia was only 23. Please prayer for her parents, the JAM who has been hit hard, and for the Mavhusa women, especially a young woman named Prudence who counted Lucia among her best friends.

That is so sad all of yall will definitely be in my prayers

You, her family and all who knew her are in my prayers in Jesus.

Hugs and God bless
