I don't know how many points equal a rep power though.I would like to know myself.
As far as I know, rep power is based on the number of years you have been a member (one rep power per year), and the number of posts that you've made (one rep power for your first 50 posts, and one for every thousand posts after that).

Also, if I'm not mistaken, 100 rep points equal one green light.

It means no one has actually given you rep. I think 1 is just a default.
People don't use Rep much anymore, especially since 'like' was added. Someone as new as you is not too likely to have rep added yet.
Actually you start out with 0 and work your way up. It's kinda confusing.

I have 407 rep points, but 5 green thingys. So not sure if that's right. Wish Robo would come in and clear it up. Even the FAQ on this doesn't make it clear.

That's pretty much what i said.

The reputation points, and the likes have nothing to do with me. I am here to Glorify God. It is his Wisdom and Knowledge I share. The Rep and likes are His.

Before I accepted Christ I made fun of anything "Christisn".

Everyone starts with one green box. Another one is added for every 100 rep points.

I find it somewhat interesting that the last 5 out of 7 additions to my 'reputation' came from this thread...

( Not sure what I should make of that? )

;)

I think you also get more green dots depending on the total amount of reputation you get from other users. It's settable and configurable by the admin.

It's mostly meaningless imho, as it doesn't have any real effect on the forum itself at all, as in it doesn't effect posting or anything else - on some forums it's almost used as a popularity contest, which I hope no-one considers it here.

"Well... Perhaps they should..." ;)

The 'Rep Power' indicator is supposed to be a reflection of the person's reputation "in the community" - how highly regarded the person is by "the community at large"...

'Rep Points' should be given for any reason whereby you have a "high regard" for the person; however, because they are associated with individual posts - the idea is to "REP" the posts which contain content that you determine to be an illlustration of whatever it is that you believe indicates the person to be "of good reputation"...

It is not simply about whether you like what they said - that is what the 'Like' button is about -- which says:

"I like the general-overall-impression that I get from this post."
or
"There is something in particular about this post that I like."

Sometimes, a person may use the 'Like' button "conservatively" in the sense of "I Really Like" -- in which case, you have:

"I really like the general-overall-impression that I get from this post."
or
"There is something in particular about this post that I really like."

There is a difference between the two ('REP' and 'Like') - and each should be used for the purpose it is intended.

:)

you need a rep for that illustration :p
