Someone will post something anti-Catholic today and a Catholic will get defensive.

Someone will get all self-righteous and command others to repent.

For anyone claiming to be prophets I am not against anyone claiming to be a prophet because I believe that there is true as well as false but, I do not believe in blind faith and the Bible does not teach blind faith as well. If there is a prophet let them be tested by the church from the Bible so that all can know. If any is found to be true then that is good but, if any is found to be false then that is also good.

Why won't any of the people claiming to be prophets want to be tested? Where is your faith? Do you have faith in God and His word or something else?

I believe prophecy still exist but I'm not sure if prophets do. most do not have the faith and dedication. I believe God can raise them up but they would have to display a maturity in Christ and the fruits of the spirit that I find lacking in many who claim to be speaking with the authority of a prophet from God.

they must have love, joy, patience, peace, self control, kindness, knowledge, brotherly kindness, etc. A firm understanding about any of God already revealed words. humbleness and the Holy Spirit must testify that they are who they claim to be.

I have a question was Elisha a prophet before Elijah gave him a double portion of the spirit? Or did he only become a prophet after Elijah was taken up by the flaming chariot?

2 Kings 2:9
And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

lol Zone most of the Bible is just to reveal the same thing. people just don't listen very well. don't you know the whole Bible is a testimony of JESUS but people still don't get it. they read the bible over and over again but they make up excuses of how the words don't apply to them that is why testimony/prophecy is needed to show them that the BIBLE is talking about THEM not about others. that God loves THEM not because of what they do but because of what Jesus did through His life and sacrifice upon the cross and His resurrection. ;) lol.

you know we had a conversation about spiritual gifts you narrow the category to really mean the apostolic gifts but most people have the broader category and misunderstand when they think you reject those apostolic gifts.

most cessationist still accept and acknowledge these gifts of the Holy Spirit right?

the role of the NT prophet was not to tell christians God loves them and to show them in the Bible.
the Bible didn't exist yet. it was being REVEALED to them.

what you are describing is the pastor/teacher's job.

so i ask again: is God giving NEW REVELATION TODAY? if so, what is He saying He didn't already say?

if so, why isn't the church holding a council and adding to canon?

what's the last Book in your Bible called? what were Christ's last words?

is God the author of confusion?

AnandaHya in our natural minds we can think up and devise reasons we think to help people...like it seems you kinda think there has to be more human
influence to win mens souls...sorry if Im wrong. Is there anything God cant do? Do you believe God is incapable to call a mans heart? He creates them then He needs us? Do you think if they cant understand, its the book at fault ,or could it be their heart, or maybe they need a fellowship and be diciplined, and taught.
Im sorry your generation has been so overstimulated with trash tv and media so that a normal, peaceful living seems dead. Tell me im 56 with never a prophet,
what did I miss?

There can be no new revelation for new light cannot take away from the old but, expands on it.

Proverbs 22:28
(28) Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Isaiah 8:20
(20) To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

The language of the so called prophets on CC do not speak prophetic language.
God gave dreams and visions to the prophets and they wrote it down in their own language or style. God did not dictate to them and they wrote down they wrote down what they saw in their own style that is why we have many styles in the Bible.

The book of Job is written in the same style as the books of Moses therefore Moses wrote Job. Hebrews is written in the style of Paul so we know that Paul wrote it. God inspired the prophets which makes the words they spoke the words of God.

Revelation 1:11
(11) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Just to copy words from the Bible as some do that claim to be prophets is not prophecy, it might sound good but, it is not prophecy. To be a prophet they would have dreams and visions and write it down in there style.

A prophet will have dreams and visions revealing further insight into what is already revealed without showing anything new or different to what is already revealed. God has gone to great lengths to preserve the Bible, all we need is in the Bible God wants us to study and search the Bible, He is not going to spoon feed us all the time.

If there is something in the Bible that is relevant to our situation then God speaks to us through the Bible in that particular passage. Reading the Bible is an audience with the infinite one, we hear His word in the Bible it is the spoken word its words are words of life.

Proverbs 2:2-5
(2) So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
(3) Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
(4) If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
(5) Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

2 Timothy 2:15
(15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth
.

Has God changed? Does He speak to prophets in different ways today than in the past?

Malachi 3:6
(6) For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Numbers 12:6
(6) And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

Also when a prophet is in vision they will not breathe and they will have supernatural strength as it states in the 12 tests. So my question to all the people who claim to be prophets on CC has this happened to you? If no then you are not a prophet. Our faith must be in the word of God the Bible and a true prophet will agree with the Bible.

Isaiah 8:20
(20) To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Acts 2:16
But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: Last Days refers to period between the First and Second Advents.
Joel is not concerned with a detailed list of events - he is addressing The Promise of The Holy Spirit, and it happened.
after describing Pentecost

See this is where you are totally wrong Zone... Look at Acts 8.... In the town of Samaria, Philip preached, and the Holy Spirit fell on NONE OF THEM YET!! so God must have missed the city of Samaria, and me, beaue God said over ALL FLESH... not all flesh except Samaria... ALL FLESH. And when did the sun not give his light any more? And when did the moon turn to blood? You see they were only the FIRST ONES TO BE poured out unto... that was the first day of the LAST DAYS>>> Not the last DAY ...DAYS Plural, that means more than one day. Penticost was the FIRST OF THE LAST DAYS... God did not say similtanously pour out my spirit.. Becasue here is the evidance..... Acts 8:15 and 16... Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them:

Jesus TOLD US....MANY false prophets..........
YES MANY...NOT ONLY FALSE PROHETS... Wrong again...
Ananda Prophets prophecy, and the gift of prophecy is for prophrts, and the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

[FONT=&quot]Here are the twelve tests of a prophet. [/FONT]

Test Number One: Deuteronomy 18:21-22:

"And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

Test Number Two: Numbers 12:6
"And he said, hear now my words: if there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream."

Test Number Three: Numbers 24:4 and 16
"He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open...He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:"

Test Number Four: Daniel 10:17
"For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me."
Another test of a true prophet is that they have no breath while in vision. In other words, they don't breathe. According to scripture, this is one of the miracles God performs to identify a genuine prophet. While in vision, they don't breathe.

Test Number Five: Daniel 10:18
"Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me."
Before a vision, a prophet may be very weak in physical strength. But when taken in vision, a true prophet will suddenly receive supernatural strength.

Test Number Six: Jeremiah 28:9
"The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the Lord hath truly sent him."
A true prophet absolutely does not lie. His predictions will be one hundred percent fulfilled.

Test Number Seven: 2 Peter 1:20
"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation."
A true prophet does not give his own interpretation of scripture. Every prophecy he or she proclaims will agree with already established truth. If they receive new light, it must agree with the old light God has already given.

Test Number Eight: 2 Peter 1:21
"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
So, a true prophet prophesies in the name of the Lord, not in his own name. A true prophet will manifest the fruits of that same spirit because he or she speaks through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Test Number Nine: 1 Corinthians 14:3
"But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort."
In other words, a true prophet gives direction to God's true church. And a true prophet's messages will cover all of these three areas: Edification -- to instruct morally; Exhortation -- this means to strongly advise; and Comfort -- to soothe in distress or sorrow, to console. All of these three things will be exemplified by a true prophet.

Test Number Ten: Isaiah 8:19-20
"And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
God gives a clear distinction between false prophets and true prophets here -- between the works of hellish darkness, and the works of heavenly light.
How could it be any plainer? God says, "To the law," what's the law? It is the ten commandment law of God, " . . . and to the testimony . . ." What's the testimony? The "testimony" is the rest of scripture. " . . . If they speak not according to this word [the 10 commandments and the Bible], it is because they have no light in them."

Test Number Eleven: 1 John 4:1-3
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they, are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is in the world."
A true prophet believes in the incarnation of Jesus Christ, and will never question the fact that Jesus came in man's fallen nature, in our fallen flesh. The Bible says any person, or church, claiming that Jesus Christ came to this earth in any other way, than in the fallen flesh that you and I have, is the spirit of antichrist.

Test Number Twelve: Matthew 7:15-16
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. . ."
In other words, look at what their ministry produces. If all they produce is a good time, with theme parks and water slides, and all they spend their time doing, is telling people to send them money, on the authority of the Word of God, that person is a false prophet.

These are 12 tests from the Bible for anyone claiming to be a prophet. I know that there are some people on christian chat that claim to be prophets what I would like to know is if they are willing to be tested by the Bible if they are true or not? If not the why not?

8So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and no strength was left in me, for my fresh appearance was turned to pallor; I grew weak and faint [with fright].
9Then I heard the sound of his words; and when I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in a deep sleep, with my face [sunk] to the ground.
10And behold, a hand touched me, which set me [unsteadily] upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11And [the angel] said to me, O Daniel, you greatly beloved man, understand the words that I speak to you and stand upright, for to you I am now sent. And while he was saying this word to me, I stood up trembling.

17For how can my lord's servant [who is so feeble] talk with this my lord? For now no strength remains in me, nor is there any breath left in me. 18Then there touched me again one whose appearance was like that of a man, and he strengthened me.

Doesn't say anything about the man dying. He was scared for one thing. He couldn't hardly breath he was so scared of what he was seeing and the fact that it was happening. He was taken over into the spirit world. Sometimes people have to use there brains, they need to think... Being in a trance a person is still alive and breathing. People need to think that the bible was rewritten by people who didn't even know all the meanings of the words. Plus the fact that they didn't really understand what it was all about. But if a person uses common sense they could see that man was slain in the spirit. Happens all the time. There down on the floor looking like unconscious. There still breathing. Please use your brains. Please don't get mad at me. Truly I'm not trying to be rude or mean. You can't go on with these silly teachings form person who didn't know what they were talking about. Please!

Read the next verse 18. He was touched. If he was dead and not breathing any more he wouldn't of known he was touched.

The Bible is the inspired word of God, plus I think Daniel knew what he was talking about it was not the first vision he seen get your facts straight.

Your not getting it. Of course the word is from God. The word also uses the wording he went to sleep. Which means he died. To us we say the man died. We don't say he went to sleep.

Another wording is the dove. The dove came down on him as talking about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit Spirit falls on people all the time doesn't have anything to do with a bird. They didn't know how to put in words what was happening.

A little common sense people have trances all the time and they do not die.

Or how bout when Jesus called people in the bible snakes? Do you think they actually looked like snakes? Come on common sense please.

Or Jesus called people dogs. They didn't look like dogs they were people. If I was read all the words in the bible and make believe they were all to be taken as literal it would be crazy. A person does not die when they go into a trance. That's silly. If they died they would go to heaven or hell.

Oh well he had 100 trances in his life. He died and was brought back to life 100 times. Come on.

It's nice talking to you though even if we don't agree. Oh the grass hopper people in the bible? They did not look like grass hoppers, meant they felt little compared to the bigger people.

Daniel 10:9

(9) Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
Genesis 2:21
(21) And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

Do you understand the difference between death and sleep The Bible says that Daniel was in a deep sleep also Adam was in a deep sleep they did not die that is not what the Bible says.

Another wording is the dove. The dove came down on him as talking about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit Spirit falls on people all the time doesn't have anything to do with a bird. They didn't know how to put in words what was happening.

The Holy Spirit was not a dove but, came down in the form of a dove
Luke 3:22
(22) And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

It could have been pure light that came down in bodily shape like a dove.

A little common sense people have trances all the time and they do not die.
Which people go into trances all the time? I do not know anyone that goes into trances you make it sound as if it is common place. You need to read your Bible properly focus on Christ more and Satan less.

Hebrews 12:2
(2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
2 Corinthians 3:18
(18) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

If our focus is on Christ we shall become like Him but if our focus is only on bad things then we will not become like Him.

There are many titles that appear to be coveted among the community of Christ in this day and time. People seem to want to precede there name with a title. Jesus said in Matthew 23:
5“Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’

8“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

13“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.''

I actually address this with a heavy heart. This is something I have observed for decades, and it is sad that in the family of God, there are still those who want to be seen as leading, and yet they do not display a servant's heart. Many want to be heard, but the mark of someone with the gift of teaching is the ability to lead by example. The disciples were very ordinary men. How did the disciples lead? They led the way by dying for Christ, and we are all to die daily. I have no title, but if I am remembered at all I would like to be remembered as one who loved, and one who laid down life and prestige and prominence for the One who died for me, and for my brothers and sisters in Christ.
I am not saying that there is no place for titles in the body of believers, but let the fruit of your life lived for Christ and your loving service to '' the least of these" do the speaking for the fact that Christ lives in you. God bless you :)
