The Mega Church
Compared and Contrasted with the Bible Believing Church​

Bigger does not necessarily mean better. Whether the local assembly of believers is big or small, our responsibility is to be faithful to the Head of the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to obey and honor His infallible Word. The philosophy and practice of the Mega Church movement is outlined in the following chart:

It is known as the “purpose driven church” (Rick Warren), the super church, the seeker friendly church, the market driven church, the user friendly church, etc. It seeks to create activities and programs which will attract the masses. To do this, the Mega Church leaders feel it is important to find out what people really want and then give it to them. [An example of this is given below with respect to what kind of music people want.] Whether what they give them is really what they need is a separate question.[/TD]
[TD="width: 50%, align: left"] We are using "Bible Believing Church" here to refer to any church, regardless of name or affiliation, that is a part of that Biblically-loyal minority movement of our day, composed of men, women, boys and girls who know their God and seek to honor and obey His only written revelation. God’s Word, the 66 books of the Bible, is regarded as absolute, final, infallible, authoritative and totally inerrant (John 10:35; 17:17). All matters of faith (what we believe) and conduct (what we practice) must be based completely on “Thus Saith the LORD.”[/TD]

But what does the word say about end days? It is plausible that the majority of the mega churches are wof prosperity emergent churches? Do the masses want the truth or their ears tickled?

The Mega Church Compared To the Bible Believing Church

Our presbytery is huge! I mean it covers every single Presbyterian Church in America member in Philadelphia and quite a few from our suburbs, so it's huge. It's also Bible believing. The size of the church does not negate the possibility that is still God's people. We're a movement, but one from God. It's called "Christians."

Kind of hard to find dinky churches when you live in one of the biggest cities in America. (We actually found one once. But then it didn't survive because it was too dinky. We decided not to join another one because it broke our hearts when we had to leave, and just the two of us leaving was the straw that broke the camel's back, so it had to close because it couldn't afford to stay open. That was our family. It hurt.) I'd really wish we'd stick with trying to follow God together than constantly dividing ourselves.

Sure, but you could have swapped columns and, when generalizing, the same thing would have happened. Some of that is true of any given church, so the end just bothered me more. Generalizing never works for matters this important.

Just because a church is not small doesn't mean the Word f God is not preached.

What's the cutoff point? over 100 members? 200? 1000?

maybe a church grows because the message of the gospel is preached.

The cut off point should be about 15 people. Then every member would have a chance to use their function, as God intended.

Thats amazing. The first century assemblies were 'dinky' and florished spiritually. They met in homes. They turned the 'world upside down' for Christ. When the heathen emperor Constantine started building church buildings for big crowds, the clerics took over, the every member participation died making impotent he body of Christ along with the pagan influences.

Thats what we have today.

Nope. Some of that isnt true in a biblical church. Which btw, you can find a biblical church that isnt mega. It will not bring the multitudes in this day and age. People do not want a bible studying church but they want a church where they get entertained ad their ears tickled. Which btw, Ill divide myself from the worldly church any day of the week. I will NOT be a part of a church where Jesus isnt the focus but the worshiptainment with a 15 minute commentary on one scripture is. Jesus said this would happen. Its happening. WOF, prosperity, filthy lucre has surely taken its stand hasnt it. And guess what? It will surely NOT stand!

Speaking of those angels, have you ever done a study on those Cherubim? Ezekiel 1 & 10 has the most detailed account of those four beings, which are synonymous with the four living beings (I don't like calling them creatures) found in Revelation. I look forward to seeing and meeting these beings, as well as the other angels, but these seem to be in a category of their own. These are actually the only angelic beings mentioned as having wings. Both Isaiah 6:12 and Rev.4:8 record them as saying "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty." Ezekiel records each being having four faces like that of a human, an ox, an eagle and a lion, so that one of the faces of the being is facing forward, another is facing left, another right and another behind and because of that, they don't have to turn when they move.

It also states that they are covered all over and under with eyes. The also have what is called "whirling wheels" which is where the spirit of the being resides, which has the appearance of chrysotile. I also noticed that John in Revelation mentions the same faces, but doesn't mention that each being has four of them. Also, Ezekiel records four wings, where John and Isaiah records six wings. Amazing!
