Yes, and also trust Him to provide the sacrifice, just as Abraham trusted God with regard to Isaac.

No. Because the God I worship wouldn't ask me that. He sent HIS SON because the sacrifice of my son would be worthless.

Okay but what about the passages of the bible in which God explicitely forbids child sacrifice? Does the direct word of God trumps the bible?

Would that means that God changed his mind? Is that even possible?

Today we are not under law,but grace. Why would GOD ask tha?,All of his wrath was poured out on the body of CHRIST and the blood of CHRIST JESUS washed us born of the Spirit of GOD clean.

Ok makes sense thanks.
Question though: God knows all, so presumably he knew Jesus would be needed. Why did he ask the hebrews to kill so many innocent babies in the OT?why did he wait and let all this evil happen if he was going to correct it anyway?

Well, if God asks you something directly like he did for abraham then it is more direct than the bible. Isn t it?

No. Because Sacrifices are not required. We are not under the Law, we are under Grace!

While under the Law Sacrifices were required, but not anymore because Jesus was the Ultimate Sacrifice!

I know of a brother that allowed a group of hindus burn his younger brother 2 death before his eyes, because he wouldnt bow down and worship the idols they wanted him to.He truly loved his brother ,but he loved God more.true story, ive seen many things in my travels of persecution that would blow your mind, just because they loved Jesus.Be thankful always,we never know when God is going to stretch us test our faith and complete trust in him.Amen

Yes I would.
Because God is God and if I say that I love him then I must do as he asks; he'd would then decide what to do.

Well, if God asks you something directly like he did for abraham then it is more direct than the bible. Isn t it?

The Bible took some time to get finished and put together over the years for reasons I don't understand. But even Jesus uses and upholds the use of the Scriptures as He had them when He was here during His earthly ministry. Instead of reminding satan that God just spoke to Him and was well pleased with Him in Luke 3:22 Jesus said "it is written" and that is how Jesus addressed the devil each time He was approached by the devil in Luke 4.

Jesus is our example of how God wants us to use and to uphold the written Word (the Scriptures, the Bible) that He has preserved all these years for us. It's amazing how often Jesus kept quoting Scripture and fulfilling Scripture too for that matter. Also, the Holy Spirit will never contradict the Bible. They didn't have a finished Bible back in Abraham's day with instruction on how to use it from Jesus Himself. There is much more about how important the Bible is and we keep finding out about it the more we read it. Also we see how the Bible is constantly under attack by the world and even religious people. They can't accept that the God of the universe could do something as easy as preserve His Word for us after all these years.

Sorry., forgot to say., No., I would not sacrifice my child since God would not ask me to go against His Word. As one of the members just posted here., God is the giver of life, not the one who came to kill steal and destroy. Jesus came to give us life., and that more abundantly.
