He [Paul] implored people on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God (2 Cor 5:20).
As all Calvinists do:)
If a person CANNOT do anything on their own to be reconciled to God without God first saving them, imploring people to be reconciled to God is useless and pointless.

LOL believe that if you like. It rids it of all meaning, I prefer Paul who spoke of US
Yes. Christians. The church.

When talking about the wedding feast some declined and others were sought to fill up the dinning area.

Once the invitation is given, you may choose to accept or not.

I see both of you as half right
As all Calvinists do:)

What do you expect them to do? Take personal responsibility for their lost estate? To this day the Jew thinks of himself better than the rest of the world because he is elect.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
Sadly many churches think this also.

Circular reason is not reason! All you've done is said "I know I couldn't explain predestination, because I don't like predestination, so I used scattered verses in the Bible to prove I don't like it, instead of explain it, but you shouldn't criticize me for using verses that don't work, because no verse works, or any given work does magic, and that's what happens in BDF. We use verses that don't work to prove our point and don't like to have to explain ourselves simply because we don't like something in the Bible, sooooo, I still don't like predestination, don't understand it, and yet...."

OP was asking about predestination. Like the word or not, it is a real word with a real definition. If you don't know what it means, then how about looking it up, rather than finding scattered unconnected verses?

As for your question earlier to me? I thought you were joking. Have you not read the Gospel of John? Do you not know Jesus is the bread of life? Jesus answered your question long ago.

John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

(And feel free to check out larger context. It's very cool, yet remains this context.)
Lynn I have already explained predestination in my first post in this thread it simply was not accepted and I wasn't criticizing you in fact my post about the scriptures wasn't aimed towards you at all it was aimed at me and everyone who tries to use scriptures to prove their point. I was making a point that we can use all the scriptures we want but it doesn't seem to work very well.

And the scripture you gave doesn't go with predestination, according to predestination true Jesus is the bread of life but only to the chosen elect but here Jesus says everyone who looks to the son and believes in him will have eternal life, key word everyone not some not the chosen elect everyone.

No man freely chooses anything
Lets see

1. Adam chose to rebell. And take the fruit from his wife and eat
2. Noah chose to spend a heart building an ark
3. Abraham chose to leave his family and go to a place God asked him to go
4. Moses chose to murder a man, then leave and after God spoke to him, return and lead Gods people out of Egypt
5. King David chose to not go with him army, Call out a maiden he saw naked, Go into her, Kill her husband
6. Daniel chose not to eat of the kings finest, but obey his God, and chose pray to his god knowing the possible consequences.
7. The 12 chose to follow God, even though 1 chose to do it not out of faith, but out of greed,

Men freely choose all the time..

When you use Scripture, are you throwing Scriptures too, or is that just other people?

Secondly, you're correct, it is all about your theory, not Biblical exegesis and proper context.

You are aware, are you not, that Joshua 24:15 is not a Gospel invitation to salvation, right? Listen on and learn, please.

Or, do you just dismiss context outright, and conveniently misinterpret it via tradition and ignorance?

Furthermore, you are aware, are you not, that no man chooses their way to heaven? John 1:13, Romans 9:16, James 1:18, 1 Peter 1:1-3, John 6:63, and, that no man is able to come to God, John 6:44? These Scriptures show your error (yes, you're in error, accept it) in mishandling Joshua 24:15, taking it out of context and getting false doctrine. My hope is that this will humble you, that you will finally receive correction and grow in knowledge and truth.
There is a difference in throwing scripture at people and using it, it's all on how you use the scriptures. I don't tend to use them to prove my point I prefer to use them to help others to grow and to give encouragement because the bible is not a tool of war just prove our believes it can be used in many ways.

And yes your correct no man chooses heaven they choose Christ and he is the way to heaven.

When God says so? Will you tell Him? I daren't.

Yes. Christians. The church.
Who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began

It says HE did it. So when He did it is reassuring but irrelevant. It was His personal choice and 'not according to our works but according to His own purpose and grace'. This has a personal distinction. They were chosen 'according to His own purpose and grace' Your interpretation (if it can be called that) is total flaccid, if not to say insulting to God,

You freely chose to respond to my post.
Not at all, I chose according to my disposition

And whether you believe it or not, you freely chose to believe on Jesus Christ.
No God dragged me in protesting all the way.

Thants not very nice, they are our brothers.
That's true, there are no doubt many hard-core Calvinists who are our brothers in Christ. Anyone born again of the gift of the Holy Spirit is our brother in Christ.

There is a day coming when every Christian will know the truth on every aspect of doctrine, myself obviously included.

I was not wishing harm on my Calvinist brethren. I will just be glad when they understand the truth, that believing Calvinism was a bad choice.

One day ALL bickering on doctrine will cease because we'll ALL know the truth.

I can't wait for that day.

One of the most amazing things regarding spiritual matters is that those who have been indoctrinated in false beliefs and are entrenched in them simply double down in their errors rather than abandon them for the truth. It seems that pride and ego are at the root of this attitude, and Christians generally hate correction (even when they need it desperately).

I believe that unfortunately the same could be said for all of us at times, not just Calvinists....

Most of us are very convinced that what we believe is the truth.

If one has a teachable heart then they will learn to leave an opening for correction, the thing is some confuse correction with attacks and other simply refuse to budge in their views even if they are shown their error by three or more brothers and sisters.
Then you have to consider who the correction is coming from, for instance if I receive correction or am told I am in the wrong if it comes from someone who I know has a certain distaste for me I am not so prone to receive the correction until I can get a confirmation from a brother or sister that I know well and trust.

I have been guilty of this myself, it's a constant lesson that we never truly learn we will always be in error in some manner because as long as we are in the flesh we will have flaws in our understanding and it's human nature to error after all even with the holy spirit. But in seeking after him with a passion and hunger he will guide us and lead us in all things, because after all he is the best teacher and a teacher cannot teach someone who thinks they know all the answers. It takes a humble student

Sometimes it is pride and ego, however, for me it was just not knowing any better, allowing myself to be indoctrinated by books written by men, believing the Christian world, that they were great men of God.

I rather know less, than know a lot and be sure of what I know

Correction was well worth it and it was freedom

You accept exactly zero correction and only offer cop out responses. Where are you, humble student who accuses others of throwing Scripture around, while making excuses for yourself and your errors?

Isn't that is what is amazing about this whole entire thing? No man is able, but he calls. No man can repent while dead in sins, but he calls to repentance.

Our 7 year old daughter sits amazed with questions when we read Scripture and asks "How?" and "Why?" and we tell her that God is incomprehensible in so many ways that it blows our mind.

We talked to her about how God has always existed. It is mind boggling, we cannot wrap our thoughts around that. So the bottom line is we believe these things, we accept what he has revealed by faith, yet we cannot understand them well.

Exactly why I love the description of God's throne in Ezekiel and the testimony of how high God is and how high his ways are above us in Isaiah......I think of how much power is contained in the atoms of a few pounds of Uranium and then look at all of creation and just shake my head at the immense power of our God and the fact he wants me as his son, friend and child......
