Jesus calls his disciples friends because they understood God's plans for this world. Have you heard Jesus call you friend? God reveals His plan through scripture.
He called them friends before they even understood! because He had told them:

I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

that's John 15, but for example in John 20:9, he believes when he sees the tomb is empty, because he did not yet understand that He must rise - and they hadn't understood till later what the baptist had said about how Christ would baptize them, for another example.

i find this comforting ;) -- the Comforter, He comforts

i've thought about Goebbels, and psychological effects, but not about server load. until HRFTD said -- he's right
And bandwidth. Every time a page loads all of that surplus text is eating up network bandwidth for no reason.

Amazing 12 pages and still not a single scripture in support of the OP here.

"God's SABBATH should be kept EVERYDAY".

Sola Scriptura where are you?

How can you have the WORD of GOD when there is no WORD?

.......................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.......................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

The 10 commandments are the law of Moses. Gentiles have never been, and never will be, under the law of Moses. That was the law of the old covenant which has passed away.

link > http://christianchat.com/bible-disc...gentiles-have-never-been-under-law-moses.html

The law of the new covenant is love GOD and love our neighbors, but is really summarized in one commandment - love your neighbor as yourself. That is the whole purpose and fulfillment of the law of Moses. That law has been written on our hearts. When we obey it we are well pleasing to GOD.
Amen! "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenantnot of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills...the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone...the ministry that condemns" (2 Corinthians 3:6-9).

The law on our heart and mind is the love of the Spirit, not the law of the letter. This is why Paul tells us that the new covenant is a covenant of the Spirit, and not of the letter.

In first grade after my daughter was bapisted and was showing her certificate to her teacher, one of her friends ask her what it meant and who was Jesus.

She gave the answer "Jesus is my best friend and it means God adopted me into His family."

To me that is what the Bible refers to as "faith of a child".

It's an honor to discuss scriptures with kids and people with childlike faith because you can learn things and see the world in a totally different way then what is typically taught by most.

Someone told me a story about how someone got up and prayed really informal as if they were just talking to God. Then a teenager said...."I didn't know you could pray that way. It was like God was his best friend or someone right there beside him"

Who says you have to pray with your head bowed and your eyes closed?

It's definitely NOT GOD or the BIBLE.

in the same line of questioning, who says what you should and should not do on the Sabbath?

People condemned Jesus for healing on the Sabbath. They condemned the man for listening to Jesus and carrying His bed and walking.

Too often people look at the laws and completely miss the Spirit of grace at work in the world and in our hearts.

there is no Scripture that says N. T. Christ followers are to keep the Sabbath. can't quote what is not there.
Amen! NOWHERE does the NT teach that keeping the Sabbath day is binding on Christians under the New Covenant. SDA's can quote a multitude of scriptures and twist those scriptures to try and make them say whatever they want them say, but they are not fooling us. ;)

*Sabbath keeping with all it's rules and regulations, was part of a covenant with Israel that is not binding on Christians under the New Covenant.

*Colossians 2:16 - Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

Even when Sabbatarians set out to worship on the Sabbath, are they truly "keeping the Sabbath?" To "keep the Sabbath" as it was required in the Old Testament under the Old Covenant would involve compliance with specific regulations (Exodus 16:23; 35:3; Leviticus 23:32; Jeremiah 17:21) that were strictly enforced.

If Sabbath day observances are still required, so would the burnt offerings which went along with them (Leviticus 19:30; 23:2-3; Numbers 28:1-10; 29:39-40; I Chronicles. 23:30-31; II Chronicles 31:2-4; Isaiah 1:13). So no kindling a fire in any of your dwellings on the sabbath (Exodus 35:3). Every man must remain in his place (no traveling) on the sabbath (Exodus 16:29). No trading (Amos 8:5). No marketing (Nehemiah 10:31; 13:15,19).

These were commanded by God to Israel (Exodus 35:1).

If the seventh day Sabbath is still in affect, then why do not the Sabbatarians seek to obey ALL that the LORD commanded? How can a person keep a certain law when he keeps only part of it?

If the Sabbath day laws were still in effect today, then according to Exodus 31:12-18; 35:1-3; and Numbers 15:32-36, anyone who profaned the Sabbath was put to death and any person who does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from his people.

Who is going to enforce that? The Jewish synagogue? The Seventh day Adventist church? The Government? Since we do not live under a theocratic state as ancient Israel did under the Old Covenant, no Sabbatarian can live consistently under these Mosaic regulations.

We are commanded to obey God and God often tells us to rest in Him which is the true purpose of the Sabbath.

I will have to disagree with you. I do believe God commands us to keep the Sabbath but not as a weekly observation but as a daily part of life.

What I don't agree with is the legalistic definition of what it means to "keep the Sabbath".

that is what I was aiming at. I do " rest " on sunday, God's way is one day of rest. so, I do no house or yard work on sun.

so, I agree.

Thanks for the scriptures mailman.
.it does show a drastic difference between the New covenant and the Old covenant.

Gonna put those scriptures on my "to be examined in closer detail" list.

I'm not disagreeing with you but if people kept the sabbath EVERY DAY how could any work get done? Everyone would be on one long holiday.
Its not a rest from work we do. He is a rest we rest in whenever we hear the voice of God and do not harden our hearts .

He calls it today as long as today is today .Which is as long and the Sun and the Moon hold there course above.

It is not a time sensitive word. Men have made it into one taking away the daily provision as our daily bread... forgive us our tresspases as we rest in Him because of his labor of love ..or work of faith, which is saying the same thing

It would seem find out what mixing faith in what we do see or hear coming from God is. ?It is the key to understanding in order to enter into His rest. For we who have exercised faith or believe do enter it... as long as today is today

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.For we which havebelieved do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.Heb 4:7

The sabbaths were like any other day to the priests who worked in the temple. That's where I want to be.

Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless? Matthew 12:5

Exactly!

It's hard physical labor to kill and sacrifice animals.

We are no longer called to kill animals but we are called priests of God our bodies His temples since His Holy spirit lives with in us.

What kind of sacrifice does God call us to make in the present age?

Yet here you are both you or your friends still unable to provide scripture that says God's 4th Commandment is now abolished and we are commanded to keep Sunday as a HOLY DAY? Someone made a thread here called we need to keep the Sabbath Everyday and yet there is still no scripture posted that says we have to keep God's Sabbath EVERYDAY?

You say there is no scripture that says that God's 4th Commandment is binding on Christians? Where does it say in God's WORD that God's 4th Commandment is now abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a HOLY DAY?

But what does God's WORD say about God's Sabbath in the NEW TESTAMENT?

*Sabbath keeping with all it's rules and regulations, was part of a covenant with Israel that is not binding on Christians under the New Covenant....... These were commanded by God to Israel (Exodus 35:1).
WHO ARE GOD'S ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT?

THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: FOR YOU ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS AND IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN YOU ARE ABRAHAM'S SEED FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS and IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN ARE YOU ABRAHAM'S SEED, AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE (Galatians 3:28).

FOR THEY ARE NOT ALL ISRAEL WHICH ARE OF ISRAEL,: NEITHER, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SEED OF ABRAHAM, ARE THEY ALL CHILDREN: but in Isaac shall thy seed be called <Christ> That is, THEY WHICH ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE FLESH, THESE ARE NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD: BUT THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE <those who believe> ARE COUNTED FOR THE SEED (Romans 9:6).

FOR HE IS NOT A JEW WHICH IS ONE OUTWARDLY; NEITHER IS THAT CIRCUMCISION, WHICH IS OUTWARDS IN THE FLESH: BUT HE IS A JEW WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; and CIRCUMCISION IS OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE LETTER; whose praise is not of men, but of God. (Romans 2:28-29)

Colossians 3:11,
WHERE THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK
circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Romans 10:11-13,
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. FOR THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JEW OR GREEK: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.

Hebrews 8:10-12,

BUT THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS, AND WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Gentiles are now grafted into God's ISRAEL (Romans 11:13-24)

God's ISRAEL are those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW the WORD of GOD. If you are NOT a part of God's ISRAEL then you are NOT a part of the NEW COVENANT.

*Colossians 2:16 - Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day 17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.
You mix up the Mosaic book of the COVENANT with God's LAW.

COL 2 the REAL truth is talking about the CEREMONIAL laws in ORDINANCES from the Mosaic BOOK of the COVENANT. COL 2 is Not talking about the 10 COMMANDMENTS only the CEREMONIAL laws in ORDINANCES and the PENALTY of SIN.

SABBATHS (plural) is talking about the annual "SPECIAL SABBATHS" of LEV 23 that can fall on ANY DAY of the week, NOT God's 4th Commandment. COL 2 is talking about the laws in ORDINACES from the Mosiac book of the COVENANT and SIN offereings that were Shadows of things to come, pointing to Jesus and God's plan of Salvation.

SCRIPTURE SUPPORT COL 2 THE REAL TRUTH CLICK ME 1

SCRIPTURE SUPPORT COL 2 THE REAL TRUTH CLICK ME 2

Even when Sabbatarians set out to worship on the Sabbath, are they truly "keeping the Sabbath?" To "keep the Sabbath" as it was required in the Old Testament under the Old Covenant would involve compliance with specific regulations (Exodus 16:23; 35:3; Leviticus 23:32; Jeremiah 17:21) that westrictly enforced.
The only requirements is no work is to be done because it is a Holy day of rest set aside as God has commanded.

Exodus 20
8, Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
9, Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10, But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested theSEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and if we KNOWINGLY break it like any of the other commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN (Exodus 20:1-17).

If we break any of God’s Laws we stand guilty before God in SIN (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). This includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11)

Burnt offerings; This section of your post only shows you do NOT KNOW what the OLD Covenant is and the NEW Covenant and the difference between God's LAW (10 Commandments) and the Mosaic book of the Covenant for remission of SINS which are the shadow laws pointing to Jesus (Col 2:14-17 see above already addressed). We are living in the NEW Covenant now and not living in the OLD Covenant of animal sacrifices and sin offerings which all pointed to Jesus as our one true sacrifice (Hebrews 9-10). These is also NO command in God's 4th Commandment to offer burnt offereings now is there (Ex 20:8-11)? More supporting scripture here for those interested (Linked)

No kindling a fire; The scripture context is in relation to work not work is to be done on the Sabbath if all preparation is done beforehand it is ok to do good on the Sabbath.

Remain in his place; (No Travelling); Now your only twisting the scriptures to try and say soemthing that it is not. The Exodus CONTEXT of Exodus 20:29 is in relation to not going out and collecting manner on the Sabbath (Ex 20:16-30). Also if your interpretation was true please why Jesus and all the Apostles travelled to the synagogue on the Sabbath?

Trading and Marketing; Of course there is not to be trading and marketing on God's Sabbath. This is the same as doing business or working on the Sabbath which is a HOLY day God has made for rest. No work is to be conducted on the Sabbath according to God's 4th Commandment (Exodus 20:8-11).

The scripture you quote above are all in reference to the CIVIL laws of Israel under the OLD Covenant. The same death penalty under the CIVIL laws of Israel were carried out for breaking most of the 10 Commandments (Deut 13:6-18; 1Sam 26:19; Deut 13:1-10; 17:2-5; 27:15; Deut 7:25-26; Lev 24:10-17; Exodus 31:14-15; 35:2; Lev 20:9; Deut 21:18-21; Ex 21:17; Ex 21:12-14; Lev 20; John 8:5; Ex 21:16; Deuteronomy 19:15-21)
Unless your living in the OLD Covenant in Israel do these laws apply to you? We are living in the NEW COVENANT now. The penalty for SIN however is still the same which is death but this will be carried out when the judgements of God are given to those who reject His Word and his GIFT of salvation and choose to live a life of SIN breaking God's Commandments.

...............

Now please where are your scriptures that support the OP here?

Where does it say in God's WORD as you claim that God's SABBATH is EVERYDAY?

Where does it say in God's WORD that God's 4th Commandment has been ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to keep SUNDAY as a HOLY DAY?

WHO are you following God's WORD or the teachings of your Catholic heritage?

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

................

Jesus says that if
we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

When the Lord Jesus Christ came things changed.

Those who are looking back to obey the Ministry of Death written on stone do not understand this. They think nothing has changed except for sacrificing animals.

Well the Lord Jesus Christ has said that not one jot or tittle would fall from the law until ALL was fulfilled. So if the jots and tittles of animal sacrifice have fallen then what does that say for the rest of the law?

The Sabbath has changed and Hebrews 4 explains exactly how it was changed.

Hebrews 4:1-10
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
[SUP]4[/SUP]For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Galatians 3:12-14
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Its plainly stated in scripture. But not everyone has the ability to understand.

Matthew 13:11-17
[SUP]11 [/SUP]He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

7Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. 10Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. 11For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory.

12Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, 13not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. 14But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. 15Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. 16But when onec turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17Now the Lordd is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,e are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.f For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Yet here you are both you or your friends still unable to provide scripture that says God's 4th Commandment is now abolished ...
It's not just the 4th commandment. The entire law (ministration of death) has been "abolished". Law has no authority or power over those who have died to it. It has become entirely idle/ineffective/non-functional.

But if the ministration of death, written [and] engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which was to be done away: 2 Corinthians 3:7

And not as Moses, [which] put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 2 Corinthians 3:13

done away/abolish
G2673 καταργέω katargeo
1. to make entirely idle

GREEK-ENGLISH LEXICON of the NEW TESTAMENT BASED ON SEMANTIC DOMAINS
76.26 καταργέωc: to render ineffective the power or force of something—‘to invalidate, to abolish, to cause not to function.’ τὸν νόμον τῶν ἐντολῶν ἐν δόγμασιν καταργήσας ‘to abolish the Law of commandments consisting of regulations’ Eph 2:15;

This is the same word in Ephesians 2:14-15

For [Christ] is our peace, who has made both [Jew and gentile] one, destroying the middle wall of the barrier, the enmity, in his flesh; having abolished the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that of the two he should make in himself one new man, so making peace. Ephesians 2:14-15

I don't believe God's laws have been abolished. I believe the old covenant has. I believe many have a legalistic view of God's laws.

However by the very nature of the title of my thread, folks should know i believe we are called to keep the Sabbath in the manner God tells us...not men.

The main difference is that I say you can do it every day. Once a week is a good start, but daily communion and keeping of the Sabbath is what God wants....what we will have in the New Heaven and New Earth.

What I want is a discussion of

What it means to KEEP GOD'S SABBATH?

Let's see if it actually happens..,

This verse should really make people stop and think...

Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are blameless? Matthew 12:
******
How do the priests profane the Sabbath?

Why are they held blameless?

Doing some research for my second reading of Exodus chapter quoted earlier.

For those who would like to join me. I will post articles that I am reading with little or no comment.

Just because I post doesn't mean I agree but to give a fuller understanding of what has been already said....it's called research for a reason.....

Despite the importance of Shabbat in Jewish life, the Torah provides few details as to its observance. Apart from the oft-repeated injunction to “do no work” on Shabbat (see Exodus 20:10, 35:2, and Deuteronomy 5:14, among others), the only other specifics mentioned are a few prohibitions such as those against kindling a fire, gathering wood, and plowing.
