I want your pastor still lol
Lol oh I forgot the other part. He'd give you a broom, vacuum cleaner, have you clean the church once a week and a Sunday school class to teach too. That way you'd learn pastoring ain't just about preachin. It involves lotsa menial work too.

Oh and one of the men he did this tactic on was 19 at the time. He went on to pastor some pretty big and successful churches. So keep your chin up dude.

Maybe your pastor has some insight in to you and thinks it's just time for u to wait.

Ah then I dont want your pastor. To me a sunday school teacher is a different calling as is the administration. And maybe it is time to wait but if it was why has God given it to me now?

This scripture seems to indicate Moses had a sense of his calling long before he actually lead them out of Egypt. So I guess it's possible for God to plant that dream in your heart long before the actual calling

I know 'you're in the wilderness' stories can be over blown and over done. I also know many dwell in a 'wilderness' experience so they can avoid making any practical forward progress in life. So be careful about thinking you're in that situation 'of the wilderness'. Cuz it can lead to alotta wasted time and self deception. On the other hand, if you're banging your head against the wall, living for God and still don't seem to be making progress, then you're probably in a wilderness..

And as I type I just recalled Joseph in Genesis. God put a vision in his heart LONG before the full manifestation..

Acts 7

23 “When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites. 24 He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defense and avenged him by killing the Egyptian. 25 Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. 26 The next day Moses came upon two Israelites who were fighting. He tried to reconcile them by saying, ‘Men, you are brothers; why do you want to hurt each other?’

It's a figure of speech for an extended period of time of just kinda bein in what looks like a stagnant situation..

Like Joseph in prison..Moses when he fled Egypt. Stuff like that.

The time before the manifestation of your calling.

I think that ''age'' is not very important, so don't care about your age
If God really called you, you just obey

Hey all,

Im 19 and I know its Gods will for me to be a preacher in the future. When I asked my pastor if I could send him a sermon for him to look over and for me to eventually preach he gave me a look that said "your far too young to preach"

Is it wrong for me to want to do a sermon? Should I wait until ive been trained? What do you guys think?
Preaching and pastoring are two different things.

Preach now, pastor/evangelize/church-plant later.

Preach on Brother!

The Lord started HIS public ministry at the age of 30, after HE had gained favour from GOD and man.
Standing on an altar and preaching is never an easy business, we see from the Old testament how some died ministering in the Tabernacle, how some got ailments doing what they where not supposed to.
It is a very dangerous work, and THE LORD takes it very seriously.
i would say just do you and GOD, Start your ministry at home, in your area of living as the Spirit leads. There are many more places you can preach, not only in the House of GOD. so do that, The Lord will see your devotion and will give you favor on your pastor.
Ie Let the pastor see the righteous, holy and godly living in you so that HE may ask you to preach. Is it not better to be noticed than to make oneself noticeable?

No, I don't think 19 is too young to preach. But there are some things to keep in mind. Usually, the words translated 'preach' in the New Testament are used in contexts where the apostles or other people are proclaiming the Gospel to those who have not believed it yet. Preaching took place in the temple, synagogues, and marketplaces.

When we look at what the early churches did when they met 'every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.' The Bible doesn't say they had one pastor offering a sermon every week. A regular believer in the congregation could offer a teaching. If you look at it from that perspective, the idea of a 19 year-old offering something in church to edify others does not seem too shocking. Could you teach a Sunday school class or speak to a youth group?

Preaching to unbelievers, teaching, and exhorting the church are not the same thing as being an elder of the church.

The most honest and pointed shares in this forum have been from younger folks. Go ahead and share salvation if you are able to show the joy of it. When we share the joy, it is truly infectious.

Actually, getting down to it, there are probably as many young folks as older folks who are qualified by the Father to teach and preach, just as there are many in each group who probably should be more careful as to what they are sharing, especially dealing with specific theologies, that is unless of course there is someone here who knows the theology the Father follows. Right, He is the Source of all that is. Starting to ramble here, so I had better watch what I say also.

As Paul advised Timothy, let no man despise your youth. If you are led by the Holy Spirit, by all means follow. One last bit of advice via Paul, when you are sharing and preaching with the Holy Spirit leading you, learn from what you say. Anyone who has experienced this knows what is being advised here.

i would say 1 in 30 make it as a pastor their entire life. You can get practice, and training by him - start leading a bible study at home - get some actual experience - many say they are called to preach or be a pastor - but they have no evidence other than them saying "i know it's God's will"

Are people edified through your preaching?
Are people convicted/converted under your preaching?
Do you have a shepherds heart towards God's flock?

if you say no to these then ask if it God's will, or your will to preach

You have to respect the fact that your pastor said no. He is your elder and he is the shepherd intrusted with Gods flock.
If you want to preach your sermon, go out in the highways and biways! Get on a box on a street corner and take a stab at it!
Seems to me you will get some clarity if nothing else. Do you have the faith to preach anywhere and everywhere? Go for it!

It is by knowledge not by age that wisdom is acquired. However, the older you are, the more knowledge you gain, and the more you learn how to use that knowledge in a wise way. If knowledge of the Word is a sword (and it is says Ephesians six), it is not good enough to just have a sword and go swinging it around every which way, you must be skilled at using it. Along with knowledge and wisdom, you need to have maturity. You would need to be mature beyond your current age. I have known such people, and if you think you are one of them, you should practice. At our church one year, on Sunday nights, they encouraged young men of our congregation to each do a five to ten minute sermon. It is important to breed the next generation of ministers. Then if they felt the calling to preach in their life, they were encouraged to go to college- to the School of Biblical Studies to learn how to become ministers.
