is this a trick question? if people have not been baptized by the Holy Spirit they would not have the spiritual discernment to know why not, if they have the the Holy Spirit then their life would testify to that true without the need of words. Do you seek to do this over the internet?

John 8
13 The Pharisees therefore said to Him, “You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true.”
14 Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going. 15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me. 17 It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.”
19 Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?”
Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”

You could just ask who is saved. Whoever said yes would have been baptized by the holy spirit. those who have not have not. Easy question.

The hard part is wondering which are really saved and which are not.

You could just ask who is saved. Whoever said yes would have been baptized by the holy spirit. those who have not have not. Easy question. Being saved and being baptized in the Holy Spirit are TWO different things!
Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, 15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
These BELIEVERS had been baptized in WATER, but had NOT received the Holy Spirit.

The hard part is wondering which are really saved and which are not.
Unsaved people cannot receive the Holy Spirit. It goes like this, Biblically: Salvation FIRST, THEN either baptism...Holy Spirit OR water, then the other. There are instance in scripture that show water first, then Holy Spirit and some that show Holy Spirit first, then water. One is a gift, the other a command.

Now, These verses show that believers first receive JESUS and THEN the Holy Spirit.

Acts 19:
1 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. 2 He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. 7 There were in all about twelve men.
These verses show that one can be baptized in the Holy Spirit/receive the Holy Spirit/be poured out upon by the Holy Spirit BEFORE water baptism: Acts 10
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. 45 All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?” 48 And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

Ummmm not true getting saved and holy spirit baptized are two different things, and a lot of more conservative Christians don't even believe in holy spirit baptism. And to answer the big question, yes I am.

It is recommended that you approach this with an open mind and heart
(i.e. lay aside for a moment what you have been previosly taught).

All verses in the NKJV were analyzed re: the words baptism, baptize, baptized, and baptizing.

Baptism into the church (salvation)

This does not refer to an intellectual belief (or conversion of one’s thinking),
but this refers to being born again (from above) with the Holy Spirit entering the person.
“For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body (the church) … and have all been made
to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.” (1 Corinthians 12:12-14).

When "born again", the Holy Spirit takes up residence INSIDE the believer.
John 14:16-23; Romans 8:11; 1 Cor. 3:16; Gal. 4:6; 1 Timothy 1:14; 1 John 3:24, 4:12-16.

Baptism with the Holy Spirit

John the Baptist proclaimed that Jesus is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit
(Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33).
The baptism with the Holy Spirit comes after, or occasionally at the same time as, being born again
… and there are 7 verses stating that the Holy Spirit comes UPON the believer, for example:
“… the Holy Spirit fell upon them (the Gentiles), as upon us (the Jews) at the beginning.
Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water,
but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ ” (Acts 11:15-16).
The other 6 are: Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 8:14-19, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:5-6.

The Scripture PASSAGES below explain what this baptism is all about.
And the important DETAILS in each passage are shown in the chart below.
Please notice how these details are so inter-connected in the chart.

1 Luke 24:49 ------ 8 Acts 8:14-19
2 Acts 1:4-8 ------ 9 Acts 9:17-18
3 Acts 2:1-4 ----- 10 Romans 15:19
4 Acts 2:33-39 --- 11 Acts 10:44-48
5 Acts 4:8-16 ---- 12 Acts 11:15-17
6 Acts 4:31 ------ 13 Acts 14:3
7 Acts 5:12-16 ----14 Acts 19:5-6

I was baptized in the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, when I was a teenager. I later turned to doing my own will, didn't go to church, etc. Now that I have renewed my commitment to Christ I have been, "touched," by the Spirit a few times where you feel like you are entirely one-on-one right before the throne and you are filled with a joy that you do not possess within yourself. I have not, however, experienced the Holy Ghost again. Why not? I have no idea. I pray for that empowering blessing but God truly does all things in His own time.

I have seen some who are filled with the Holy Ghost Spirit almost right away and for others it has taken years after they've accepted Christ. If you don't want it, don't believe in it, and/or aren't open to and seeking the fullness of God's glory, I believe you can rest assured you won't be blessed with it. I have seen those who WERE blessed with it when they had believed it only happened in Acts. The most noteworthy infilling/indwelling of a non gift believing person, in my experience, is the Monsignor of the Catholic churches here in my city. All I can figure is that the brother was truly seeking the fullness and greatness of God. And he got it. :)

God bless you all and I thank God for you. :)

I am wondering if you are referring (in blue) to the tongues experience you had before?
If so, don't be disappointed because for most people tongues are only to prove they received this baptism.
Others who speak in tongues do so because they have that particular gift (1 Cor 12).
Only those with this baptism can receive one or more of the 9 spiritual gifts (1 Cor 12).
Ditto for the 5 ministerial offices (Eph 4:11).
This is how God set it up in the beginning,
i.e. everyone in NT leadership had this baptism and some of the 9 gifts.

No it doesnt, Remember the revival in Samaria in the book of Acts, The whole city got saved and baptized in Jesus name, but they were not baptized in the Holy Spirit, the evangelist (Philip) had to send for Peter, and John to come and baptized the people with the Holy Spirit, after they were already saved. so one does not = the pother according to scripture

Acts 8
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

These were saved hours, days, maybe even weeks before they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but they were filled with the Holy Spirit the moment they believe, and or were baptized in Jesus name

another gross mistranslation of Gods word. Will people ever learn?

To baptize does not mean to come in. To annoint means to come in.

They were baptized in water. And yes they were probably saved, (maybe not) which means they were probably already baptized by jesus. (rom 6, 1 Cor 12 titus 3: 5) Which was done by the HS. because if they were not, they were STILL DEAD IN THERE SIN AND NOT SAVED!

Again this is the begining of the church. Many signs were given to show this new thing was from God.

And again people need to look up what the word baptizo means. It does not mean what you all are trying to make it out to mean.

This is not exactly biblical, read Acts
I have read acts. But I don't just assume things and force God to match my beliefs, and Study so my beliefs match with Gods word.

Baptize is a verb, it means that someone is placing YOU IN something. It also represents cleansing, or a change of state (think of dyeing a shirt to change its color. Its state has been changed.) it is not someone coming in or on you.

if we are not cleansed. we are not saved. period. If we are not baptized BY GOD. we are not clean. and thus we are not saved!!

Not to put you out there Needmesomejesus, but that is a humble heart. God bless you sister. Eg, and others could learn a lot from you.

As long as you keep accepting the teaching of scripture when you see it, you are going to grow in Christ like a weed on steroids.

no sis your not corrected. Look up what the word "baptizo" means (not in english in the greek, for this is where the word comes from)

Baptize is a transliteration, not a translation of the greek word baptizo. They took the o off the end and replaced it with an e and made it an english word. which did not exist before. so many of the English translations we see today do not actually tell us what the word means, because it is not a native word.

They are trying to spiritualize or distort a words meaning to prove their false doctrines. But origional language does not allow us to do this!

what, because I refuse to follow your MAN MADE DOCTRINE, and translate a word which is not native to english your way??

Dude you have some learning to do!
