arguing with a Calvinist is like arguing with a brick wall..Spurgeon was the only Calvinist I ever heard of who was aggreeable with Scripture, he wasn't like the majority of Calvinists today who only want to ride that hobby horse of feeling no responsibility toward lost people to try to get them saved, no need to support missionaries, no need to pass out tracts, no need to witness to the lost, no need to stand up publicly agaisnt sin when confronted by it.....the ones who are on their way to Hell, well, they can just go says the Calvinist, the ones that will be saved, God knows, and I don't have to be concerned about it. Calvinism is a self-centered version of being saved.....they may actually be saved, but they have gone off the deep end on "the elect"
I agree for sure.........so true.......they like to reject certain words and phrases that contradict their heretical stance......!

2 Thessalonians 1:3-12

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 4 so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, 5 which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; 6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,10 when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.
11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

i feel like i just heard a sermon in a sentence.

thanks. i needed it.
:)
Amen and we all need to be reminded that God is God as we sometimes without even thinking about it bring him down to our level.....I love how high he is lifted on his throne in Ezekiel......His ways are so much higher than our ways and his thoughts are so far above our thoughts that we do not even scrape the bottom of the least of his thoughts......!

Sorry Dcon and others but I cannot agree with this. The reason I cannot agree is because of a couple things said. "The majority" is a false accusation as we don't know the "majority". Maybe we do know a couple Calvinist like this but we cannot use the word "majority" unless we know "all". Using the phrase "like talking to a brick wall" can be used against anyone who is firmly set in their beliefs. We can encounter anyone that we can say who is "like talking to a brick wall". And actually Martin Luther wrote more about "the elect" and "predestination" than John Calvin.

If you met me my dad and my son you would say the "majority of my family is short because my dad and I are short but my son is tall. False accusation as the majority of my family is actually tall. You have not met the majority but only a small part. So we must be careful when using words like "majority" when we actually only know the "minority".

AMEN to this and WHO can be against what he does....He is the GOD of heaven and there is no other.....!
If it pleases God that all mankind is saved eternally, why does he not save all mankind?

You are no different as to rejecting certain phrases that you can not explain, such as Dan 4:35. God has his way. If it is his way that all mankind be eternally saved, Why are they not? God does not have to over ride man's free will to save him eternally because the carnal man's will ,in 1 Cor 2:14, will not seek God, because he can not discern spiritual things until God changes his heart from a stony heart to a heart of flesh, one that is soft and can be pricked.

You assume that I cannot explain it and or have no view on it.....which is your own fallacy......

God will not override his will and or his word.....He determined before the casting down of the world that all who come to him dia his SON would be recieved and all who reject will be seperated from him for all eternity.....it is not a contradiction to say that God would have ALL men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, but at the same time will only recieve those who exercise genuine faith.....maybe you should spend more time actually studying instead of splitting hair!

Amen to this as well.......another thing that amazes me is how bold people can be online, but in face to face will not witness and or explain why they believe what they believe for fear of rejection and or being labeled......!

I actually kept saying this all week as God has blessed my socks off. I am an accounting major in college and received an email and went onto my student account and had originally thought I owed over a couple hundred dollars and went to ask why and there they had told me that it was actually a grant came in and I was to receive the credit in my checking account. Then on Monday I took an exam and totally froze up not remembering anything so of course I thought I failed it and the instructor told me that I got a 100%. God is doing something and he is and forever will be an awesome God.:)
