I must be hitting a nerve here, because you resort to attack mode.

The first sign of a person struggling with alcohol is: I can do it moderately, and it will never hurt me, has never hurt me or others and its too bad others don't have the control I do and others have.

These are the lies the devil places in a person's mind, when they are slowly leaving moderation and going into the phase of dependence.

The devil lies to people and says:

"A little Bit wont hurt you"

"It wont hurt you because you are in moderation and: "you are in control of XXXXX", where XXXXX is alcohol, porn, drugs, anger, envy, jealousy, greed, sexual perversion, hate.

The lies continue
"Look around you, others do XXXXX without consequence"

Then the capstone lie
"Anyone who has had disastrous issues with XXXXX, just cannot control it like you"
"because they are just out judge you and are legalist's"

It is quite obvious I hit a nerve with you and it is what you state and how you say it with all that swag that gives you away.
Or its quite obvious that there are millions in this world who can drink and dont struggle with alcoholism. You can try to twist what i say to fit your paradigm, but thats on you.

1 Pet 4:3 "For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries;"

excess of wine -
oinophlygia - means drunkeness, an excess where one drinks so much as to not be able to walk, be in a stupor, passes out.

revellings - kōmos - means a drinking party where moderate to large amounts are of alcoholic beverages are consumed not to the point of excess passing out.

Banquetings -
potos - potos simply means "to drink" no set amount attached to it. The verb form of potos is found in Matt 10:42 "And whosoever shall give to drink (potizo) unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water..." Here potos is associated with an amount as small as a cup, a social drinker, drinking that gives occasion to excess.

So Peter gives three varying degrees of drinking/drunkeness and in the context condemns all three.

Albert Barnes says of "excess of wine, revelings and banquetings":

Banquetings - The word here used (\~potov\~) occurs nowhere else in the New Testament. It means properly drinking; an act of drinking; then a drinking bout; drinking together. The thing forbidden by it is an assembling together for the purpose of drinking. There is nothing in this word referring to eating, or to banqueting, as the term is now commonly employed. The idea in the passage is, that it is improper for Christians to meet together for the purpose of drinking--as wine, toasts, etc. The prohibition would apply to all those assemblages where this is understood to be the main object. It would forbid, therefore, an attendance on all those celebrations in which drinking toasts is understood to be an essential part of the festivities, and all those where hilarity and joyfulness are sought to be produced by the intoxicating bowl. Such are not proper places for Christians.

Revellings, Rendered rioting in Romans 13:13. See Barnes "Romans 13:13". The Greek word (\~kwmov\~) occurs only here, and in Romans 13:13, and Galatians 5:21. It means feasting, revel; "a carousing or merry-making after supper, the guests often sallying into the streets, and going through the city with torches, music, and songs in honour of Bacchus," etc.--Robinson, Lex. The word would apply to all such noisy and boisterous processions now--scenes wholly inappropriate to the Christian.

Excess of wine. The word here used (\~oinoflugia\~) occurs nowhere else in the New Testament. It properly means overflowing of wine, (\~oinov\~), wine, and \~fluw\~, to overflow; then wine-drinking; drunkenness. That this was a common vice need not be proved. Multitudes of those who became Christians had been drunkards, for intemperance abounded in all the heathen world. Comp.1 Corinthians 6:9-11. It should not be inferred here from the English translation, "excess of wine," that wine is improper only when used to excess, or that the moderate use of wine is proper.

Did you moderately drink again last night?

If so, drinking 2 nights in a row and even if it is 1-3 drinks and during the week is not moderation.

Your statements to me and others on this topic and your insistence in attacking me based on your very wrong perception of my weakness surrounding alcohol fall directly into line with 1 John 2.16

Too much of anything is a bad thing. Even laugh too much and you might get a hernia!

What was it that Paul said to the Corinthians? About "everything is permissible not everything is beneficial".

Alcohol and tobacco are not good for you period. But only in large amounts.

A little wine is good for the soul and actually has medicinal benefits.

Too much wine and you don't know what you are doing..

Whats that saying? 1 tequila, 2 tequilas, 3 tequilas, floor! :p

answer the question with a question...tactful.

I work long shifts when I come home I have a beer. Maybe two on friday or saturday. So I go through roughly 6 beers in a week. Thats fairly moderate considering 12 oz of a 4.% alcohol content by volume isn't that much at all. Its just a nice release. Maybe I have one at the bar instead of at my house some nights, because I want to shoot pool or throw darts to relax. It doesnt change the number just the location.\

Apparently some people think moderation is used as an excuse for christians to go down a sixer or a twelve pack and still claim moderation. Thtas not how it works.

I would urge you not to be so dismissive of people that have addictions, or walking through deliverance of an addiction, or delivered from addiction and suggesting they don't have something you do[self control] may be perceived as arrogant, hurtful and walking without any kind of love or compassion.
