Of course Jesus was not wrong, but my being murdered by a mob will not bring forth eternal life for people who hear of me.

Define purpose and then perhaps the reason becomes clear

Why do we die? Jesus laid down His life...

How do we identify with Christ? What do we lay down?

please notice I am not asking you other then in a generic sense for thought...I am not trying to argue or be right but we have to start to thinking

ps...me too

Are you forgetting Satan can do nothing without asking God first? It wasn't Satan who put Noah, Jonah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Joshua, Saul, David, Gideon, etc. through all that stuff. It was God. God could have given the apostles an easier time. He didn't. He could have saved the Ten Booms. He didn't. He could have protected Joni's neck. He didn't. He could have protected the Trade Center. He didn't. He could have protected The Tube. He didn't. He uses everything to gather himself a people and then to refine his people.

I don't much bother with what Satan's doing. He lost. He lost way back in the garden. He lost when Jesus was in the wilderness. He lost when Jesus let himself be nailed onto that cross.

Read the OP verse. They aren't about Satan. They're about God's kids. And it was important enough that God made sure that same verse hit twice -- OT and NT -- so there is no chance we can confuse who it's about or come up with the age-old excuses.
I'm sorry. I simply don't agree with you. I would agree that God will place us in difficult situations at times to accomplish his will but the dividing line is John 10:10. If something is trying to kill, steal, or destroy, then it's not from God.

You also cannot use OT scriptures trying to define the character of God. The law wasn't God's perfect will, yet when the law was enacted there was both a blessing and a curse attached to it. God became obliged to uphold the curse just as much as the blessing. However in the NT Jesus has taken the curse for us. Jesus shows the true character of God.

You keep saying that God gave Job to Satan to do what he would, but the scripture only says that God said "Behold he is in your hand". The word "behold" doesn't mean I'm giving him to you. It simply means "look and see."

I'm not going to argue with you any more about it. You seem to be one of those people who thinks everything happens because it's God's will, and God is somehow using Satan for his purposes. It's sad to me because you will never benefit from the authority Jesus gave us over the enemy. Why fight anything Satan is doing if it all comes from God and is his will, yet scripture clearly tells us to stand against the Devil.

What Christ has done for us, is make us victorious through him, There is Victory in death...in effect God will not be mocked and shall mock our enemy...in spite of all that persecution and trial and tribulation we shall experience from our enemy...this can only be accomplished by following our Good Shepherd :) At times when we think we are beaten and downtrodden...Christ will turn it around into a blessing...it really gets on the enemies nerves ha

I don't think Christians should fear death at all,nor fear becoming martyrs through death. I can also have faith for my God to deliver me from death as he did Daniel, David, Shadrach Meshach, and Abednego, Paul and Silas......on and on. If I go down I want to go down fighting and in faith.

Paul's answer is a resounding NO! In all these things we are more than conquerors. Let me give you a silly example. Adrian from the Rocky movies was more than a conqueror. Rocky went out, got beat to a pulp and brought back the prize money. Adrian got all the benefit of the prize without any of the suffering. Jesus is our conqueror. We are more than conquerors because we get all the benefit of his suffering.

Was Jesus wrong when He did that very thing? He actually LET the howling mob murder Him when He had way more than enough power to crush them.
Amen, and none of us would consider Him a loser. He was the greatest victor of all time! How glorious to follow Him wherever He should desire to lead.

Many in Germany, mainly Jews, lost whatever faith they had during the Nazi reign of terror; their faith in God did not reach past the visible slaughter going on. Does our faith take hold and cling to Jesus in the midst of each tempest?
This brings to mind the book of Job, where Satan suggest to God that His men will deny Him if it comes to saving their own skin. I, for one, would not want to prove Satan right on this one. God give me grace to stand if such a time shall come for me.

Whoops! My bad. Since this site is called "Christian Chat," I tend to assume I'm talking to Christians, and sometimes don't check who the person is. I didn't realize you weren't a Christian. (Not sure what you are, but its not a Christian if you have to fix the Bible to correspond with your version of God.) Sorry about that.

I'm sorry as well, I didn't know you were so childish. I thought we were having an adult conversation.
