Of course we do not have to - there's no major rule for this that being baptized in the HS then u should speak in tongue -

Acts 2:4
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.

- but if when you are truly baptized in the Holy Spirit and enabled to speak in tongues - then why not?
But in AOG if you do not speak in tongues they in reality do not believe you are baptised in the Holy Spirit, vtherefore evidence of speaking in tongues is needed to affirm baptism in the Spirit

That's why they call it evidence it is a proof... How can you prove something without a proof?

And i think it's biblical - if u trace the history of the early church in the book of Acts - most of the people Baptized in the Holy Spirit are followed with an evidence that they do speak in tongues. so it is a physical evidence.

Thank you for saying MOST, therefore you do not have to speak in tongues as proof of being baptised in the Holy Spirit

You do not have to if you are not baptized. But if you are enabled by the Holy Spirit - why not?

I have a question for you livingbygrace - Do you accept that speaking in tongues is an evidence of Baptism in the Holy Spirit? if not - do you have biblical reference for it? or just disprove that speaking in tongues is not an evidence in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit :)

It can be AN evidence, but does NOT HAVE TO BE THE NECCESSARY evidence that somenone is baptised in the Holy Spirit

It can be AN evidence,
Well you've said it...

So therefore speaking in tongues is the evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit -

What i'm trying to point is - there's nothing wrong in believing that the evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is through speaking in tongues - nothing more - nothing less -

and why not - it is what the Bible presented - Acts 2:4,
:)

You picked a few words out of what said and VITALLY omitted the rest

It can be AN evidence, but is not A NECCESSARY EVIDENCE that someone has been baptised in the Spirit

Please quote fully what was meant

In due respect,

Sorry for that - i do it to point my point - that you do agree with me that speaking in tongues is an evidence of being Baptized in the Holy Spirit...

That's why I conclude...

Therefore, speaking in tongues is really an evidence of being Baptized in the Holy Spirit...:)

Acts2:4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”

so many quote this scripture as required proof of having received Act 2:4 only , lets read it in context to what was happening and how that miracle brought thousands to the Lord in itself, wish people would not use it as evidence as if a pre requisite of having received please

thank you n.m. we can not underestimate the deciever he is much more cunning than any of us; he was an angel remember,he is of a higher state than us. but at the end God is going to bring him low and he will bring us up high, thats how god works. he will bring the high low, and the low ,high.

Yes satan can have counterfeit for miracles, gifts, tongues, and also he can twist and distort knowledge and truth. the only way to identify that it came from God is from it's fruit...

by it's fruit - you can identify the tree by it's fruit...

Galatians 5:22
amen - love not if they speak in tongues

Gal 5:22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
