  • Ecclesiastes 7:12For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

  • Ecclesiastes 10:19A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things
30000 children died today from starvation and you are quoting verses you have no good understanding of.

How does one "buy" from God?

17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1 Tim 6:17-19

Nowhere in the bible does is say you cannot be wealthy. There are many passages that instruct the rich on how to be and not be haughty and not to depend on it for security. There is nothing sinful about wealth, but the lack of generosity and good deeds is the problem.

The Ethiopian Eunuch was one of the first converts. He was wealthy, and never once does it say he gave up his riches.

How many children died from starvation while you sit on the internet?

Deuteronomy 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. 1 Samuel 2:7
The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

Jesus Christ came to free the captives,to recover sight to the blind,to deliver good news to the poor. Think real hard about that for a minute.
Isa 61:1 is not meaning "poor in money" but poor in spirit.

Do you know what constitutes being poor to God?

If I'm a murderer, am I not poor according to the law?

[h=3]Psalm 113[/h]King James Version (KJV)

113 Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of theLord.
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Commandment number ten is all about serving mammon.
Jesus says:
If you would be my disciples, sell all that you have and give give give and you shall have treasure in heaven.
Jesus gave everything, his whole heart, we don't need anything but Jesus, and he is the best gift we can have. The enemy wants us to v=covetous and teach our children to be covetous so we will not want to go to heaven...
It is much better living like Moses, Elijah, Dr. livingston and mother theresa and others who learned that this is all a sham down here.
The less you have the less headaches you have the less insurance and the less repairs.

I'm not wealthy. I advocate the abolishment of all type of money in order to feed all.

Why are you against that?
Well God promises to make me rich in money, wisdom and His word etc Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

If you consider money to be your prize possession, then it will be your reward.

Matthew 6:20
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

gocardinal25 said "Blessed are the poor they will inherit the earth."

Isn't it "blessed are the meek?" If not, what is the verse?

Proverbs 8 12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

I think you are correct. I think many of us misunderstand the issue of money/wealth.

Abraham was wealthy; David; Solomon; and many of those who were close to Jesus. And Jesus Himself wore what was considered the finest robe. That is why the soldiers cast lots for it.

How can we help others if we completely delete ourselves of what ever riches the Lord has blessed us with?

My biggest pet peeve is seeing a bumper sticker on an old jalopy that says: "Jesus loves you". ! ! Arrrrg. What a testimony. :(
